Q. Alex, obviously disappointing. How do you look back on it?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: It was crap. No two ways about it. My putting was woeful. I thought some of the pins yesterday were terrible, just brutally honest. And, yeah, mixed with me not playing very good at all, that's what it is.

Q. And the disappointment, I guess, as well as you said, you're a better player when you played here before. So you expect more of yourself?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Definitely. Again, I think my issue with my game at the moment is if I'm really good tee to green, my putting seems to be average. I play well, but it never feels like I can play as well as I feel like I can. If my long game is off and my putting is off, it's not great.

The last two rounds, long game wasn't as good and then putted terribly. It was a mixture of both things really.

Q. Back to the hard work?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: No, I'm having two weeks off. I'm putting the clubs away and having a good reset and actually enjoy my life.

Q. When do you go back?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: I play the Wyndham. So I'll play the Wyndham. Went to school nearby, went to Wake Forest. Excited for the event, but more excited for two weeks off.

Q. You had a whirlwind year up until today. A bit disappointing. From the exemption earlier and then playing three majors, when you look back on this year after a few days time, will you have fond memories of it?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Yeah, definitely. I think, especially when everything is done this year, I look back at how amazing it's been. Yeah, that's why, I'm trying to be honest, I've played crap the last two days, but I've had such an amazing year.

I'll go home, and I'll be upset or disappointed for another hour or so, and I think it will kick in again of just how crazy this year has been.

Yeah, obviously frustrated right now, but it's golf.

Q. And now you're here at Royal Birkdale. Do you have fond memories of Merseyside?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: Not this weekend, no, I wouldn't say. Yeah, it was super special to play in The Open Championship. It was something I dreamed of as a kid. I would liked to have played better, but it is what it is.

Q. What do you make of the crowd out here this week?

ALEX FITZPATRICK: They were great. The first two days especially was really cool playing with Rickie Fowler and Bobby Mac. It's nice playing in front of a home crowd. Yeah, it was a lot of fun.
