THE 154TH OPEN

July 18, 2026

Si Woo Kim

Southport, Merseyside, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Si Woo, we were talking yesterday about you coming from behind. You're in contention. Nobody sees you coming. It's just going really well, no?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, it's been a great round and then tough tee shot, tough green too, but I think I did really good today. Then I met a few tricky putts. I think that helps a lot.

Q. We have players that have a good round, sometimes the wind is affecting them, but you're constantly up there. What are you doing mentally and technically to stay in contention?

SI WOO KIM: Wind kind of keep switching the last few holes, but that makes it really tough. My caddie, Manny, told me what to do. I'm just trying to get comfortable and trying to just trust it and trying to commit my swing. I think same as tomorrow.

Q. Can you describe or give us some examples of your conversations with Manny and how things work on the difficult holes?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, like 15 -- I think it's 15, 16, 17, 18, like all crosswinds, but I don't know, like sometimes feel like hurting and sometimes feel like helping. I don't know what to do. He just tell me like, oh, this is trusted. This is hurting cross, this is helping cross. So I just trust him.

Q. How comfortable you feel there for tomorrow?

SI WOO KIM: I feel pretty comfortable. I've been playing a lot in contention this year. So I'm like two shots back, and I don't have to feel too much pressure.

Q. On the broadcast they mentioned that you might have blisters on your right foot that you were stepping through. What was kind of going on?

SI WOO KIM: I think this was -- I think it was insole. My insole, I brought the new one, like coming in last week. It wasn't hurting much last week, and it started killing me the last couple days.

Yeah, somehow I eat some Advil, it gets better. Hopefully gets better tomorrow.

Q. It's your foot?

SI WOO KIM: It's Achilles.

Q. So that's where the stepping through?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, first few holes. Yesterday the last couple days it was on the right Achilles. Today it was left Achilles. Somehow I have to twist it. It's so hard.

Q. It seemed like you maybe got more comfortable during the round, like you stopped doing it?

SI WOO KIM: Yeah, I took a painkiller before the round, and somehow it shows up late (laughter).
