THE 154TH OPEN

July 18, 2026

John Parry

Southport, Merseyside, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. Good round today?

JOHN PARRY: I'm not too pleased with how I played, but I'm happy with how I battled back in sort of the middle third of the round. Got off to a good start.

Q. That eagle early on?

JOHN PARRY: Yeah, we just hit the perfect tee shot into 5 and hit a perfect putt, which always helps, and then a nice birdie on the next, which is lovely.

Yeah, I just sort of let it get away from us a little bit in the middle but managed to get it back a little bit.

Q. Was that down to the golf or conditions or what?

JOHN PARRY: Yeah, I just missed the greens in completely wrong spots, and having to try and make 15-footers for pars.

Yeah, the pins are a lot trickier today, I think, than the last couple of days. We'll see for tomorrow, I guess.

Q. Do you think they'll be particularly tricky tomorrow for the final round?

JOHN PARRY: They could be. There's been an 8-under today, so they'll trip them up just as much as they have today to try and protect that score. We'll see what the scores are saying at the end of the day.

Q. What do you make of all these 62s?

JOHN PARRY: I can't believe it. A lot of them have been from going out early. Going out early, no wind, slightly softer greens, better greens.

You can kind of see that there is a slight advantage to going out early, but it's still unbelievable.
