KAZUMA KOBORI: It far exceeded my expectations for the day. I was very happy to shoot under par.

Q. What do you think worked for you today? What was the key?

KAZUMA KOBORI: I think I played very well-rounded golf. I didn't make any mistakes. The only mistake I made was a club selection error. It wasn't like any bad shots. So I was pretty happy with that. I think my driver was pretty good. I was pretty strong off the tee, so that was key.

Q. How much do you enjoy the links and these conditions?

KAZUMA KOBORI: It's good. I like it. It's quite different. But the wind is quite similar to what we have at home. I'm kind of used to flighting the golf ball a little bit, and yeah, it's a lot of fun.

Q. I was trying to figure out, and we're looking into it, when was the last time two Kiwis headed to the weekend? You must be making history here with Ryan and all that.

KAZUMA KOBORI: Maybe, yeah. Ryan finished 1-over or even?

Q. Yeah, he finished even, yeah.

KAZUMA KOBORI: Okay, good. That's really good. Usually I'm the one missing the cut, so I'm glad -- this is my first major cut made, so it's a big breakthrough for me.

Q. What is your outlook now for the weekend, for your first weekend in a major?

KAZUMA KOBORI: Yes, to be honest, anything from here on out is a bonus for me. I'm really excited. Whoever I play with tomorrow, I'm sure they're a great player, and really looking forward to playing the weekend.
