Quick Quotes
Q. Really nice round today, Justin. Well-played. 68. Just describe your feelings and emotions after a couple of days here at Birkdale.
JUSTIN ROSE: Yeah, I think the overriding emotion is disappointment because I want it all. I want to play two more rounds. Not just I want to be in contention, I want to do all these things, want to win the tournament. I actually want to play two more rounds. The course is obviously fantastic, weather is incredible, and the crowd are a sensation out there.
You know, it's a really fun feeling Open Championship, this one, and yeah, not being able to enjoy two more rounds is kind of a feeling of disappointment.
Q. How do you assess your game through 36 holes?
JUSTIN ROSE: You know, not bad. I didn't come in with a lot of practice under my belt, to be honest with you, for various reasons, but I think that maybe showed yesterday, although I feel like I have my golf swing and my ball-striking and the way I approached every shot, I felt comfortable and felt confident actually. But yesterday too many silly mistakes that sort of mounted up. I had three birdies and walked off 5-over par, plenty of mistakes in there. But I actually played really, really well. Hit a ton of greens, gave myself a lot of opportunities.
Even the one bogey there, I hit three great shots before topping the ball. I kind of gave myself every opportunity today. I fought as hard as I possibly could. I was obviously visibly frustrated at times out there just because I was fighting so hard because, yeah, I just really wanted to be around for the weekend.
Q. We know what this place means to you. But at 18, that reception, so warm for you. How much did you want to enjoy and embrace and just say thank you to the amazing fans out there this week?
JUSTIN ROSE: Yeah, absolutely. I was trying to get out of my own head at that point and just enjoy the glorious walk that an Open Championship 18th hole is. The crowd surging me on, I could feel that they wanted it for me. I think just up 18, it was just about the warm reception. Obviously I think people often remember yesteryear, me walking up that hole at Birkdale, but I think obviously it's a lot of appreciation for the career I've had since then, and I just really wanted to enjoy it with them. So yeah, it was sort of an arm-tingling experience walking up there, so I thank them for that. It was an amazing week. A good day but obviously an amazing week.
