U.S. GIRLS' JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

July 16, 2026

Ella June Hannant

Durham, North Carolina, USA

Old Chatham Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Quite the match. Can you just tell me about the day and where that ranks among some of the craziest matches you've had?

ELLA JUNE HANNANT: I'd say that's probably the craziest match play I've ever had. I think we ended up going 22 holes. I don't think I've ever gone that far before.

It was really exciting. The whole day just kept getting more exciting as it went. To be able to walk away with a win is pretty awesome. I'm really excited.

Q. I know you're hoping to win this thing, but with that, making it to the quarterfinals, you earned an exemption into this event next year. Can you tell me how that feels?

ELLA JUNE HANNANT: I actually was not aware. That's even better news. That's awesome. I'm excited to be back. I think it's in Ohio next year. I'm excited. I'll be there. Hopefully a little longer here, but there as well.

Q. Can you just tell me about the playoff? At this point when you're going 22 holes in the heat after 36 prior, is it a mental game? Is it a physical game for you?

ELLA JUNE HANNANT: I think it was a little bit of both, but I can tell it was definitely a little bit of mental. I felt really good with irons and driver. I couldn't quite get the first few holes to drop, but to drop that one was really nice.

The adrenaline was pretty high out there, but it was pretty exciting.

Q. Can you tell me again about playing more than 36 holes in the heat? How was that?

ELLA JUNE HANNANT: It was definitely a lot, but I was probably more tired in the second 18 than the playoff. I think it was just the adrenaline and trying to go win it that I really wasn't as tired there as I was before.

Q. Two more matches tomorrow. You don't get too much time to rest, but what are the plans for the evening?

ELLA JUNE HANNANT: I'm probably going to go take a shower and just go to sleep and try to get ready for tomorrow.
