Quick Quotes
Q. Congratulations on winning both matches today. Can you talk about what went well out there for you?
AUBREY HILGERS: I think mentally I was kind of ready for -- because it's really hot outside. I was ready for the challenges that were going to come. I just feel like I had that state of mind where I told myself I can do both rounds, I can go through it.
I feel like I've been practicing my butt off, and I've been prepping for this event for a really long time. Last year I didn't get the opportunity to make the cut. So I feel like coming into this year, I feel like it was just a lot better for me, and I feel like I had more of an idea of what I needed to accomplish.
Q. Throughout match play you've kind of squared off against some very established players. Do you think about that at all as you're going into these matches?
AUBREY HILGERS: I for sure do. The one girl had the Stanford coach watching her. It's a little bit intimidating.
Like I said, I didn't make the cut last year, and playing against some of these girls where like they've won these crazy good events with crazy good girls in the field, I feel like I just told myself, hey, like I worked my butt off to get here, like I said. I feel like I'm just as likely to win as anyone out here.
Q. Is that a motivating factor, looking at these college coaches maybe not here to see you, but then here you are winning these matches. Do you use that as motivation?
AUBREY HILGERS: For sure. I feel like it's not -- I don't take it offensively at all, but it's definitely motivation to see some people who didn't reach out and then I end up winning the match. It's definitely awesome to have that. That definitely felt good walking off that green after the match.
Q. Can you talk about your confidence level? Obviously taking down some of the top players in the field, advancing to tomorrow's quarterfinals. How are you feeling, and how are you going to prepare for tomorrow?
AUBREY HILGERS: I'm just going to go out there and try my best. That's all I can do. I feel pretty confident. What happens happens, you know. I'm just going to give it my best.
