THE 154TH OPEN

July 16, 2026

Cameron Young

Southport, Merseyside, England, UK

Mixed Zone

Q. When you finish a round like that, how does that feel?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, it's a good one to get there. I didn't drive it great, but I feel like I managed where I missed quite well most of the day. It was just a bad mistake on 18. That left rough is relatively forgiving. I mean, there's nothing forgiving on that hole, but the left rough is the place to be there. Just made a poor swing.

Yeah, to get out of there with a 4 is really nice. Two back instead of three is a lot better.

Q. You've been playing so well. Obviously you had the massive win at THE PLAYERS and then you go to Doral. What's gone on the last couple of tournaments after Truist? Just minor stuff?

CAMERON YOUNG: If I knew, I wouldn't have done it. Yeah, it feels minor, like nothing really has been wrong. Yeah, just went in a bit of a lull, finished somewhere in the 40th-ish range. Yeah, really the goal is just to improve just generally to a point where those lulls turn into 12ths and not 40th.

For the most part, they're not very different. It's a couple of shots, and I feel like those shots have been there. Nothing's terribly off, just haven't put together four good rounds.

Q. When you have a run of success, how do you handle it mentally in terms of not getting frustrated even though it's just been a couple of tournaments?

CAMERON YOUNG: Yeah, it's hard. I feel like I'm inclined towards frustration generally when I don't perform really well. So, yeah, it does just come and go. It feels so easy. It feels like you wake up 2-under every day for a little while, and then for a little while it can go the other way.

Really this week's a nice reset. You never know what you're going to get conditions-wise. It's a totally different style of golf. You're hitting different shots. It's a really nice chance to take things as they come and see -- each shot is so different out here. You have to really just take each one as it comes. There's nothing you can do. You can hit it into some weird spots.

Q. Did playing in the last group at the Masters this year teach you anything, or have you taken anything from that experience? Maybe not necessarily now, but that will help you going forward to learn from?

CAMERON YOUNG: I feel like the answer should be yes, but not really. I mean, I've been in final groups before. I played with Rory before, not obviously at the Masters, but if you're doing things well, you're trying to treat all of them as much the same as you can.

Yeah, that day, I wish I had just -- I would love to say I wish I hung on a little better, but I played pretty well. It just was a day I didn't make anything on the back nine. I think I hit the first eight greens on the back nine and had a bunch of reasonable looks and just missed them all.

I would love to say I had something brilliant that I learned from it, but yeah, it's just not as interesting of an answer as I'd like to give.

Q. Have you felt fully healthy during this stretch?

CAMERON YOUNG: Largely. I've had like the random colds and stuff.

Q. Nothing with the wrist, though?

CAMERON YOUNG: Wrist is fine. It's just kind of -- it hardly even nags me at this point. It's just there, doesn't affect my golf. Yeah, anyway, I'm all right. I've had a few colds.
