THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

June 30, 2026

Tyra Caterina Grant

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

T.C. GRANT/K. Boulter

6-4, 6-2

THE MODERATOR: We'll take the first question, please.

Q. How did it feel? This is such a huge one. You've had so much experience, success in doubles. What was it like today?

TYRA CATERINA GRANT: I mean, it was insane. I came from three matches of quallies already. But it's my first time playing here since juniors. It was great.

I think what was really good is that immediately I didn't feel so much pressure, like honestly maybe I was a little bit more nervous in the quallies matches.

But yeah, because I think it's because I felt like I had the match in control. Yeah, I was really confident, even to close it out. Of course, I missed the first serve, but still, I didn't feel that nervous. So it was great.

Also getting it against a home player, it's not always easy, especially here. But I loved the crowd anyway. I mean, obviously they were more for her than for me, but I still really enjoyed it.

Q. What is all of this like, coming into this room and seeing so many people wanting to talk to you?

TYRA CATERINA GRANT: It's a lot. I mean, it obviously makes me really happy. I don't know. I mean, I think I kind of experienced this as a junior a little bit. Definitely not this many people. Yeah, it's amazing, I think, yeah. Big win, so a lot of people want to talk about it (smiling).

Q. When was the first time you played on a grass court?

TYRA CATERINA GRANT: I played, was it three years ago, I think. I played, yeah, Roehampton juniors, then Wimbledon. Actually, I think my first-ever match on grass was really good. Or was it the year after?

Still, I remember I had some good matches. Also with Iva, we played really well. I like to bring up the finals of junior Wimbledon. Was really tough.

Yeah, so I think it's a really weird surface. We don't get to play on it a lot. But still, I feel like obviously I can play well on this, too, which is really important for me.

Q. You spoke briefly on court about watching Serena growing up. What did you like about her game? What sort of influence did she have on you?

TYRA CATERINA GRANT: Well, I mean, I think something that immediately pops the eye is how aggressive Serena is. Every match, every point depends on her. She's obviously a huge hitter, huge serve, huge presence on court. I think that really inspired me.

I see myself a lot in little things that she does. Again, I always try to dictate the point, always try to put pressure to your opponent. Growing up, I really looked up to her on that. I think that was huge.

Yeah, I mean, since I started playing, it was Serena, Serena, Serena. Yeah, I'm glad she's here. I'm glad also today I could play so well.

Q. We saw a bit of dialogue between you and your team throughout the match. What were they telling you? How were they helping you?

TYRA CATERINA GRANT: Well, the beginning, actually, I didn't see where they were sitting, so I was kind of struggling to understand where they were.

Usually, I think there's way more dialogue between me and my coach. Today I kind of felt more confident maybe, actually, than other matches. Obviously sometimes I'd look to him.

Yeah, I didn't ask as many questions as I usually do. But I think it's, as I always say, for myself, I find that it's really efficient to kind of ask small, specific technical questions. It helps me.

So yeah, I was asking him maybe where to stand on the serve. Obviously sometimes she was serving really precise. I was just trying to understand maybe how to try to disrupt her rhythm.

But yeah, in general I think today I was feeling really confident, really felt like I had the answers in me. Compared to most matches, I didn't really talk to him so much.
