Wimbledon, London, UK
Press Conference
K. KHACHANOV/B. Harris
6-5, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3
THE MODERATOR: Billy, talk us through the experience competing out there today.
BILLY HARRIS: Yeah, I thought I started off pretty well, then I had quite a few break point chances. Wasn't timing the ball as well in the first set. That was a chance that I didn't really take to get on top of him early.
Managed to get the second set. Again, came out, got broke first game in the third set. Yeah, just feel like you need to get in front against those better-ranked guys, otherwise they relax a bit and start playing a bit better.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Playing someone like him who is so high ranked, how does that feel different?
BILLY HARRIS: Not too different really. I mean, did well last year. He's a top player. But I thought coming into it that I definitely had a chance to win the match.
Yeah, didn't convert enough break point chances. The match just, yeah, slipped away.
Q. Your third Wimbledon in a row. Does it sort of feel different each time? Third time here, you're sort of more in that game state, not just taking it all in.
BILLY HARRIS: Yeah, definitely. The first time I was a bit more nervous in the first match. Yeah, I didn't feel like that this time. Just focused on the match.
There was some good stuff in there. Didn't keep it up enough to get on top of him throughout the match.
Q. You had a difficult run earlier this year. You're probably pretty proud of how you got through that, got here. Feel like you do have some momentum going into the hard court season.
BILLY HARRIS: Yeah. Need to work on a few things in my game. I think I can get some better results in the next couple months compared to last year. Yeah, looking forward to the hard courts now. Hopefully some good results coming soon.
Q. How aware were you of what happened sort of yesterday with all the British players? I guess you're just focused on yourself.
BILLY HARRIS: Yeah, I wasn't really looking at many scores, to be honest. Yeah, that doesn't affect the match at all really. I was just focused on my match. Tried to do the best I could.
Q. Playing on Court 18 in front of the British fans, how special was that?
BILLY HARRIS: Yeah, it was a great atmosphere the whole match. Thanks to everyone who came out to support us. They made a good difference, kept me going throughout the match. Yeah, it was great atmosphere out there.
