THE MODERATOR: Nice win. Can you talk us through the match this afternoon?

ELENA RYBAKINA: Yeah, tough first match, but I'm glad I managed to win it, and I have another opportunity to play.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Lois is typically going to be a clay court player based on the tournaments she played previously. What do you think about her game today made it difficult on grass?

ELENA RYBAKINA: Yeah, she was playing quite high, I would say, for grass court. For me, it was difficult to actually adjust to these higher balls. And then getting short slices was a bit challenging.

In the end, I'm happy that I managed to win it. Definitely will need to work more on these kind of things. Serve was working on and off. The percentage I would love to have higher, but this is something for me also to improve for the next matches.

Q. I've been asking players about how they decide to schedule tournaments leading up to a Grand Slam. You played Bad Homburg. Based off your preferences, do you like to play a week before the slam?

ELENA RYBAKINA: I actually didn't play Bad Homburg. I was supposed to go. At Queen's I played two matches in one day. For the first day on grass, match day was really a lot, so I tried to recover for Berlin. There it wasn't still 100%, so we decided with the team to actually take off the week before.

Now I'm feeling well physically, so I think it was right decision. We practiced a bit here. So I feel it all depends on your moment. If you need to play more matches, then of course, you can play the tournament before.

But in this case it was better for me to take off.
