THE MODERATOR: Joao, if you could just give us your initial thoughts on that match today, please.

JOAO FONSECA: Yeah, good match today. Felt really good on court. One of the best matches I had on grass so far. Felt good, movement on court. And, yeah, serve, return, doing well the transition to the net. And, yeah, the mentality was good today. Since the beginning, putting a lot of pressure on Jesper, and it felt really good today.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Talking earlier with Etcheverry, he feels you really need to be brave on this surface, not fearing slipping, and to play in a brave way. Do you think you are managing this?

JOAO FONSECA: Yeah, you actually need to be brave. You need to focus and you need to have courage with the movement on court. You can't be afraid to do movement and slide. I don't know, you need to feel good on court, like, with movement.

And also, you need to be brave, because if you don't do the ball, the ball is going to get to you, and sometimes you're going to hit the ball just behind you and get a miss. So you need to always be brave doing the ball.

So, yeah, it's a surface that you need to, you have less opportunities to break the guy, and the guy has less opportunities to break you. It's a very fast surface, and you need to be, all the time, you need to be very focused.

Q. I was wondering how you manage all this pressure, all this new name in the big scene. What is the most difficult part playing on Grand Slam like Wimbledon, the biggest scene of all, to be focused and perform as good as you can? What is the most important and difficult time maybe to manage?

JOAO FONSECA: Well, I think one thing that helps me a lot is the people that are behind me during the days of practice. While here in Wimbledon, I feel really good because I'm staying in a house with the family, with the whole team. I think that keeps me with good mentality, like, happy on court, happy off the court.

Yeah, having to face this kind of pressure, I would say, because it's a big scene, Wimbledon is a huge tournament, my favorite one, is just focus on my routine and what I need to do.

We practice a lot, so we kind of just put in, like, repetition, like repeatedly, and don't focus very much on what I need to do or whatever. Just like in your system what you need to do exactly. You don't need to think about it.

So, yeah, when you're happy on court, when you're feeling good off court, it's just more practical to do it on court when you're playing, you know.

Q. The pockets of yellow and green and blue today were very special. What do you make of the support that you always seem to get? The Brazilians are always chanting and singing, and making for a great atmosphere.

JOAO FONSECA: Yeah, I mean, today I had a chance to play on Stadium 3 and knew it was going to be a lot of Brazilians, actually. Yeah, the vibe was great. The atmosphere was amazing.

Yeah, very happy the way that the Brazilians showed today. Yeah, very happy they are here to support, and hopefully they'll be here for the third round, as well.

Q. During your routines, do you have a look at the draw to analyze, or it's your team who takes care of these details that are important for your performance for you?

JOAO FONSECA: I look at the draw. I was always a chill guy. I don't stay very anxious or very nervous about it. I don't have a problem to know the draw, who I'm facing it.

And, yeah, I'm kind of, I discuss with my team, with Gui, which is my coach, about the strategy of the game. But yeah, I focus match by match. I don't focus if third round I'm going to face, I don't know, Jannik or third round I'm going to face Djokovic or whatever.

I just focus on what I need to do and to beat the player, and then after the next player, as well.
