THE MODERATOR: Arthur, appreciate not the result you wanted, but could you give us the thoughts on the match today.

ARTHUR FILS: Well, was a tough match against a very good opponent. Of course, didn't go my way. But a lot of things to work on, and let's see.

THE MODERATOR: Questions in English.

Q. How do you feel about the way you played, then, and your level out there?

ARTHUR FILS: Not very good, to be honest. It's been a long time. I didn't miss that much, I would say. I was not feeling very comfortable today on the court. Struggling a little bit with the movement, with everything.

What can I say? He served very good during the whole match. He was hitting the ball pretty good. He was putting me under pressure. I think he did a great, great job.

Q. You weren't feeling comfortable because of the grass, the occasion, or...

ARTHUR FILS: Everything, you know. Everything. Sometimes there are some days you feel a bit, I don't know, a bit slower, don't feel the ball as good as you did two days before.

But when you're good, you should be able to win those matches. Of course a huge credit to Matteo. He's a huge champion, and that's also because of him that I didn't play good, so yeah.

Q. You have talked about this a few times where you're not feeling bad, you need to figure out ways to win when you're not feeling bad. What do you think you need to do in order to play better?

ARTHUR FILS: Well, I got, a couple of occasions, I got couple of breakpoints, some 15-30, Love-30. Also, you know, it's never easy when you don't play matches for couple of months and then you have to come back, you need to find the rhythm again. There is maybe a couple of occasion that couple months before I would not let it go.

Today I was not able to take it, to take them. Yeah, it's okay. I think just need to play more matches.

Q. This is your first slam in over a year.

ARTHUR FILS: Yeah.

Q. I think the first time you finished a slam without retiring or walkover since 2024.

ARTHUR FILS: Yeah.

Q. I know you come here to do more, but can you take positives from that?

ARTHUR FILS: Of course, it's positive. There is positive everywhere. Didn't know if I was about to be, I didn't know if I was about to play here. At the end I was able. This is pretty good already.

I played two matches on grass. Could have been worse. I could have lost the first round. Played on the Centre Court of Wimby. Of course next time I would like to do better. This year didn't happen. It is what it is.

Q. After seven sets of tennis, how are you feeling physically? Are you in good shape?

ARTHUR FILS: Yeah, yeah, I feel good. I feel good. Everything's fine. Body feels good. No pain, nowhere. So how you say, green light?

Q. Looking ahead, you'll be playing in the American swing?

ARTHUR FILS: Yeah.

Q. What's your next tournament?

ARTHUR FILS: I don't know yet. I don't know yet. I need to talk with my team about it, about the schedule and everything. So I don't know yet.
