THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 6, 2026

Madison Keys

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

L. NOSKOVA/M. Keys

6-4, 7-6

THE MODERATOR: Madison, obviously not the result you were looking for today. Just give us your thoughts on the match and how you're feeling.

MADISON KEYS: Yeah, I mean, obviously not how you want your tournament to end, but, I mean, I think we both served pretty well. I think it was just I served well until I didn't serve well.

Those are kind of the matches that are kind of disappointing, just because I felt like I was in the match until I wasn't.

She's really good (smiling).

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. Do you feel like that was the difference today? Was it your serving or something else?

MADISON KEYS: I mean, I think I had opportunities early in the first set to break, and I didn't even get the point started. That's pretty frustrating. Feels like it's one thing if she comes up with something great every single point, but there were a handful where they were just bad errors on my part. I think that's probably the most frustrating.

Yeah, like I said, I was serving great, and we were back and forth until a couple of games where I was up serving 40-Love, 40-15, and somehow lose the game.

Those are, I mean, those are opportunities that you just can't let go of when you're playing someone that good.

Q. She's an accomplished grass court player. What's challenging about her game on this surface?

MADISON KEYS: I mean, she's got a great serve. She comes forward really well. She's very good at the net, and she has really good hands.

It's just kind of one of those combinations where she's constantly dictating, and you feel like she's trying to take time away from you. Then she also has the variety. So she has a little bit of everything that makes her really dangerous, especially on this surface.

I thought she was especially good with some of the dropshots, and you just kind of, you're backing up because she hits such a good ball, and then she's able to throw something else in.

Q. Can you reflect on the result here, which is really nice for you, good tournament overall?

MADISON KEYS: Yeah, I mean, I'm not going to walk away from the whole grass swing feeling like it wasn't an accomplishment. I had some really great matches. I feel like I kind of found my form a lot more. I played some really good matches. Winning another title.

Obviously this isn't how you want things to end, but big picture, I think this was a huge step forward for me so far this year.

Q. On the other Americans, there were 18 women that came into the tournament. Jess and Coco still alive. Had some good results. Can you comment on their success and the other American women here, if Coco or Jess could come out of this with the title?

MADISON KEYS: I think of course either one of them could win the title. It's going to be a really tough match tomorrow.

I know that they've gone back and forth with each other a few times. I mean, I think it's kind of been decade after decade where the U.S. women have kind of come in, and there's always been a lot of us doing well and continuing to push each other.

It's nice to see that we're continuing that trend.
