THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 8, 2026

Flavio Cobolli

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

A. FERY/F. Cobolli

6-4, 7-6, 6-0

THE MODERATOR: Flavio, tough day for you today.

FLAVIO COBOLLI: Really?

THE MODERATOR: Give us your thoughts on the match.

FLAVIO COBOLLI: I don't know what I have to say now. I mean, I'm really sad and disappointed with the match that I did few minutes ago.

Really, I don't know what I have to say. I prefer to answer to the question, please.

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Did you feel that you found it difficult to put your game on the court today?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: I felt the game of Arthur was really good for him, the way that I played, and I think the perfect game for him. I think that I didn't play good since the first point of the match. Maybe I was a little bit nervous. Maybe I felt the pressure that normally I don't feel.

Play a quarterfinal against a guy that already played marathon match, many hours on court, ranking lower than me, so I felt like it was a chance to have a good day for me today.

Maybe, like my team says, I wasn't so humble since the first point, but I felt that it wasn't my day. Can happens.

But still quarterfinal in Grand Slam, so I'm still happy.

Q. Obviously you played him in Australia when you weren't feeling well. Did he surprise you at all today with anything that he did?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: I mean, also in Australia I felt that his level wasn't from a guy that he's outside from top 100. Now I think is close to, I don't know, 50.

Q. 36.

FLAVIO COBOLLI: 36, even better. I think he deserve. He always play good tennis since he was young. We grow up together.

Tennis can change like this (snapping fingers). Really, today wasn't my day. Maybe he play better than the other matches. I don't know. I didn't see the other one. But I felt that his level is really high today.

Q. It was obviously a raucous atmosphere. There was a Champagne cork in your throw-up on a second serve on a huge point. How hard was it to play tennis in those circumstances?

FLAVIO COBOLLI: You know, is the easiest thing to play on Centre Court of Wimbledon. If it's one Champagne, one clap, I mean, it's normal, is tennis.

We are used to play on other court that they're very loud. Here when something happen, you feel it because no one talk, no one say nothing during the point.

It's nothing more special than play on this court.

Q. How does somebody like yourself put yourself forth for the next challenge? You're a brilliant player and these things happen.

FLAVIO COBOLLI: Thank you.

Like I said in the interview outside, maybe I came here too early. I felt my body still on the court. The emotion are still there.

Is tough to talk also for me that I always have a smile on my face - also when I lose.

Maybe today I don't sleep really well, also because I have the flight very early. I already took it. I want to go home straight and fast as possible. Of course, from tomorrow I will reset my mind, of course.

I think I go to make two days off with my girlfriend, maybe easier to forget about this loss. Still, like I said before, I'm a quarterfinalist of a Grand Slam, so I have to be happy about myself.
