Y. KAMIJI/D. De Groot
6-0, 6-0
THE MODERATOR: Yui, Wimbledon champion. How does that sound? Feeling good?
YUI KAMIJI: Yes. Yeah, I'm very happy that I could make all major title. But more important thing for me is I could share that moment with my family and the staff, the people who supported me, yeah.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. Does it feel like you've had to wait a long time to win everything?
YUI KAMIJI: Hmmm... To be honest, from last year, I felt long until that time because I couldn't win Paralympic gold medal. It's more like I'm still in progress.
But after lost last year final, I felt many disappointed. Also I couldn't see much how I can work. Yeah, little bit long.
Q. Could you take me back to match point, the winning moment? What was the overriding emotion at that time?
YUI KAMIJI: Me and Diede playing a lot of times, a lot of fights. For me, the biggest match against her is Paris Paralympics final. At that time the last point was her service and she did double-fault. I really wanted to finish with my serve. Yeah, I could have chance to finish it.
I just really focus where I'm going to serve. I was little bit late to realize it's over, her ball isn't over the net.
Q. Did you have a sense today that this was your time and your moment; you weren't going to let the moment slip?
YUI KAMIJI: I'm sorry, I don't get it.
Q. Did you have a sense today that this was the moment that you were going to achieve a Wimbledon title, to achieve a career Golden Slam?
YUI KAMIJI: Today it's little bit difficult to describe, but I never think I can win, like, not just today but many times. I was just ready to focus every point, every game that I can put everything I've got.
So yeah, didn't think about it, to be honest.
Q. There were some impressive names who have won career Golden Slams. How does it feel to join that list?
YUI KAMIJI: It was one of my dream. The Wimbledon singles title is my biggest aim for this year. Maybe because I just still can't believe that happened (smiling). It's not nothing, but I feel the same before the match and after the match.
Yeah, I think still need have time to know.
Q. You were very emotional when you won.
YUI KAMIJI: Yes. After, like, two or three minutes later, of course because of the win, but that emotion had came from how I work and who I work together. It was, like, flashback, the people, the faces, that I worked together. I was really appreciate to spend the people with me.
So yeah, that was the reason.
