THE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 11, 2026

Anna Pushkareva

Wimbledon, London, UK

Press Conference

A. PUSHKAREVA/Sun Xiran

5-7, 6-3, 6-4

THE MODERATOR: Welcome to the press conference for Anna Pushkareva, the Wimbledon girls champion.

Anna, how does that sound, for you to be the Wimbledon girls champion?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: I mean, I don't really realize that fact, like I just feel like I just won the match and that's all. I'm not really realize the tournament is already end. Like, I just did what I did and that's all.

So many emotions I just can't explain.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. What was the atmosphere like when you walked out onto the court? Did it meet your expectations?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: You mean first court, right?

Q. Yes.

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: I mean, it's my first experience to play on this arena. It's actually a wonderful place. Like, I felt the energy of any people, like too many peoples. Actually, in the beginning, there was not too many people, but in the end, it was so, so many people.

I just feel the energy from the full court. It's really amazing. I mean, I don't have really words to explain the thanks.

Q. I suppose there's been a lot happening in the last couple hours. What are your emotions in the last couple of hours?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: Like I need to tell you about my emotions?

Q. How has it been? How have you found the last couple hours? Has it been fun?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: I already told that I still not realize that I just have too many emotions now, and I just need the time to realize the fact that I'm a Wimbledon champion.

Like, it sounds crazy really (smiling). For me, I just can't realize for now. I just need the time.

Q. How has the whole week been?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: You mean Wimbledon?

Q. Yes.

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: Actually, I have too many words for Wimbledon, because actually -- off course, now it's my favorite slam (smiling). But actually, it was from the first days. There's a real special atmosphere actually, because actually it's historic slam.

It feels like different from Australian Open, from Roland Garros. Actually, this atmosphere is really amazing. I already told, after my ceremony, I already told, like, the fact. I just don't really realize that I really was here, like in pro players here.

Just want to say thank you that I can play the slams like pro tour, in the same organization. It's really good fact, actually.

Q. If someone had said two or three weeks ago you'd be Wimbledon champion, what would you have said?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: No. I always saying like, Are you kidding me? You're joking. Bad joke (smiling). It's really bad joke, because actually I lost in the first round in Roehampton, so...

I just thinks like I will lost in the first round on this tournament. Who knows.

Q. You had lost to her the last two times. This is the biggest occasion of the three that you've played. Why do you think you rose to it and played so well today?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: You mean about pressure, like how I explain the pressure?

Q. No. Did you play differently from how you played her last time?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: From another matches, actually?

Q. In your previous two matches, you lost to her. Did you come in with less pressure in the biggest moment?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: I already told you actually that my biggest secret is actually that I just try to not think. I just tried every time, because when I don't think it's easy for me to explain. Just go to court, just do your job, and that's all. Just not thinking so much.

Not think about people. Like not so think about arena. Not think it's like Wimbledon final. Because when you think, you get a pressure. Just try to not think.

Q. You had a match point when she was serving. Didn't get that. You were up 40-Love. How did you feel for those match points...

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: So many pressure. I'm just not breathing. I'm not breathing really. Okay, I need to serve. I do the double-fault on championship point. Like, okay. I just tried to not think so much. Actually so many pressure, so many nervous.

Probably it not seems like that, because when you see me on the court, probably feels like not too much cared about it. But actually, in my myself, I feel so, so nervous.

Q. The Wimbledon dinner, have you been invited? Are you going to be going?

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: Yeah, I don't really know too much about this thing. I hear about it because I have a girls who been here, like I played against her. In Instagram, I just said it.

Actually, I don't really know about it, where I need to get a dress. Like someone really travel with a dress on the tournaments?

THE MODERATOR: No, they give you a dress to choose.

ANNA PUSHKAREVA: It's pretty good. Like, I don't really know the things about it. But of course I'm so excited.
