Quick Quotes

Q. You said earlier this week that you love links golf because it requires acceptance, it requires patience, and it requires to understand that the game isn't always fair. It's your first win in almost three years and I wonder how much that description encapsulates what you have gone through the last three years to get back to the winner's circle.

TOM KIM: Yeah, just it hasn't really -- can't really wrap my mind over it but just I think a round today -- it was a lot of work. Just really cool to, this is where I finished to get myself out of here it's really special and just a loss for words.

Q. If I were to ask your most impactful shot of your day, what was it?

TOM KIM: Has to be on 16. Just in the moment, I gave it a little --

Q. 205 yards.

TOM KIM: It was nice, the wind died down and it was a perfect number. Just a lot of commitment there. That shot shape for that wind was perfect.

Q. You said at the U.S. Open you could feel it in your fingertips, this opportunity to win. What were you feeling in your fingertips down that closing stretch?

TOM KIM: I told myself, I was hoping I wouldn't lose this one. I knew just mentally, physically that it was all there.

Q. Four wins is special but to win the Genesis Scottish Open on a classical links course, beating an incredible world-class field with a final round of 64, how special is this one?

TOM KIM: This one is up there. I played probably as good as I good down the stretch with pressure, and you know, I executed when I needed to. Very proud of myself for just being calm out there. That last putt, I've hit a similar putt like that a lot in my life. I told myself, it's the same as at home, and this is awesome.

Q. There are always key shots to earning points in a final round, particularly a tight board?

TOM KIM: Second shot on 16 might be one of the best shots I've hit in my career so far. It's definitely up there. There were a lot of key moments.

To be honest one of the best shots I hit today was actually the second shot I hit on my second hole. It was 190 yards, 200 yards. Hit a 2-iron to seven feet. Didn't make birdie but that really put a lot of confidence in me.

Q. You were 11th in the world at one stage, recently you dropped to 150th after 40 tournaments and two Top 10s. Brilliant finish at the U.S. Open and incredible performance here. How have you turned it around?

TOM KIM: Just try to get better each day. Obviously I've had a tough couple years. And it was -- I got to taste a lot of that humble pie, and I got to really learn about myself and I'm still trying to grow, still trying to learn. Still got a long way to go. But this one I wanted to dedicate to the people that were in my corner the whole time and struggled with me and who celebrated with me.
