Q. Looks like a Top-10 finish and a berth in The Open. How pleased with your day's work?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: I'm very excited. A lot's happened in the past hour, 2-over through 14 holes or so, I can't remember, but I made a few birdies coming down the stretch. Things didn't feel great and I kind of found something and stuck to it and very happy with how things ended up.

Yeah, extremely excited. Since I wasn't in prior to this week, I mean, we had into no plans, no accommodations setup or anything. So it's going to be a little bit of a mess the next 24 hours but these are all good problems.

Q. When did you become aware of your situation out there and the fact that you may be able to grab one of these final spots?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: I guess Wednesday I found out there were three or four spots. I knew there were some available but I didn't really let that kind of sit with me throughout the week.

But yeah, I think I put myself in a good position every single day and yeah, things were looking good up until this found where I struggled a little bit on the front nine but yeah, again, really, really happy with the way I finished.

Q. You may not have played Royal Birkdale. We've had different weather conditions here yesterday. What are the biggest lessons you can take from this week into next week?

MICHAEL THORBJORNSEN: Anything can happen. The golf over here is so much fun. You don't need to hit driver everywhere. You can hit something super low. You can be very creative with your game and I think that frees me up a little bit. It doesn't have to be so straightforward. I love chipping around the greens here. It's a lot of fun using the contours and everything, but yeah, I mean, we'll check out the course. I've obviously never been there but I remember watching a few years ago and very excited.
