THE AMUNDI EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

July 12, 2026

Auston Kim

Evian-les-Bains, France

Evian Resort Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Auston Kim after the final round to the Amundi Evian Championship. Auston, just great effort this week overall. What does this kind of performance mean to you?

AUSTON KIM: It means a lot to me considering how difficult this place is, how tight this course is, and how much it demands from you as a player and from your game.

I'm really proud of how I was able to really lock in all week and I hit a couple really bad shots, but I was able to really forgive myself as well and I was my best friend this week.

So having that and being able to bounce back from all the mistakes that I made was really key.

Q. Obviously we're in crunch time for Solheim Cup. Finishes like this have large implications for that qualification process. Does this help your confidence as we come down the final few events?

AUSTON KIM: For sure. It's always in the back of your mind even when you don't want it to be or when you're trying your hardest to not let it affect you.

But if I've learned anything this past year, it's that learning how to play well and handle myself even with the implications on the line is a very big part of my growth this past year.

It's one thing to want something really badly and also another to ignore it completely and just focus on the process and focus on what works well for me. I'm really thankful to have of gotten a lot of good advice from people that I trust. It's helped immensely.

Q. What are you doing in the off week to carry this with you to the UK?

AUSTON KIM: This was my third tournament in a row internationally, so probably not touch a golf club for a couple days. Eat some good food. Get some good coffee. Probably drink a beer or two here and there.

But once the rest is done, there are definitely a lot of things that I can work on. Again, I made a lot of mistakes out here. Not to take away from the good things that I did, but there are always a lot of things to work on, and it's really exciting heading into the British.

Q. How do you keep things low stress with everything that you have on the line? Sounds like you had to talk yourself into that mentality.

AUSTON KIM: Uh-huh. I read something. I'm a bit of a worrier, so I've read something that says, if you worry beforehand and if you worry in the moment then you suffer twice. If it you worry beforehand but you're not worrying in the moment, you only suffer once. If you don't worry beforehand and you don't worry in the moment then you don't suffer at all.

I'm choosing to not suffer at all and it's made such a big difference. I know it's easier said than done, but I've been learning how to trust myself even more, trust my skills, and this is why we work so hard. Just to have these opportunities.

We're all pretty good golfers out here, so, yeah, I'm just trying to trust myself and really root myself in that confidence that I have in myself.

Q. Played with the European captain today, Anna. How did that go? Like coming down the stretch, kind of trying to throw some punches at each other, proverbially.

AUSTON KIM: That was actually really fun. It was probably like my first taste of a Solheim Cup quote-unquote match.

But it was really quiet on my end for the first nine. She made a lot of putts in the beginning and then the last nine kind of felt like we were going back and forth and it was a bit of a match there.

But she drained a really good par save on the 17th and then made birdie on top of my birdie on 18 so that was actually really cool it witness.

She's a very strong, very, very strong player mentally, and I got play with her yesterday as well so it was a very awesome learning experience to see how she handles things.

I'm looking forward to maybe playing with her again later on down the line. But, again, very thankful for the experience.

Q. Do you get why she's such a formidable Solheim Cup opponent?

AUSTON KIM: Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I mean, yesterday I was watching her play and I was like ah, I see why she's been so successful.
