Q. Minus eight, nine birdies, one bogey. How was it on the golf course?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: Yeah, it was good. Besides for that bogey on 17, I would say it was a pretty good day. Putter was on fire. Every putt I looked at looked like it was going in. So, yeah, pretty chuffed. Hopefully the same tomorrow.
Q. We saw the bogey on 17, the par only on 18. Did you feel the pressure on your shoulders regarding the leaderboard?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: No. I actually didn't have a look at the leaderboard at all. I didn't know where I was or what I was doing. I was just trying to play the best I could.
It was a bit of a terrible tee shot; missed it on the wrong side on 17. And then 18 the same thing. So two, I would say, silly mistakes.
And it wasn't the only ones I made today. I just recovered really well. Made a lot of up and downs from certain places.
So, yeah, I wouldn't say it was nervy at all. It was just, yeah, misses.
Q. What do you expect for tomorrow? (Regarding order the merit.) You finished last time second. What are your ambitions in 2026?
CASANDRA ALEXANDER: Not to finish second. Hopefully we can get some wins under the belt. We've got too many seconds.
I always say the way we got into those second places running up to this event was all different, and all in different circumstances. So, yeah, hopefully I can play well tomorrow and make the charge.
I didn't have the greatest first day. To be in the position I'm in after my first day is pretty good. Yeah, let's see what Sunday can hold.
