Quick Quotes
Q. Second round 64 after an opening day of level par, what did you find in your game today?
KARL VILIPS: I just hit more greens today. Felt like I gave myself a lot more opportunities to make some putts and yesterday I hit a lot of good putts that didn't go in, and today a lot of those fell. I think that was the big difference.
Q. Looking at your results coming into this, missed the cut here last year, what have you learned from that and found this year?
KARL VILIPS: This year I'm doing my best to avoid the pot bunkers. That's where I got undone last year in this tournament. So laying up short, if that means having a couple extra clubs in, I'm totally fine with that.
And then I think I found some form last week at John Deere. Just didn't put it together. So I felt pretty good heading into this week, and I was actually in Kentucky. So getting the call on Monday, felt great to come here.
Q. Given the late call, what were your expectations coming into this week, or has the freedom of mind freed your game?
KARL VILIPS: It was all kind of a rush. Didn't have time to think about much. Did really well with the sleep recovery everything and coming over here. But yeah, no expectations is sometimes nice, and I felt like I was obviously trending coming into the week. So I just wanted to go out there and see what I could do.
Q. Currently outside the bubble with the FedExCup Playoffs, what could a good week here do for you?
KARL VILIPS: It would help a lot. The upside here is a spot in The Open next week. That's really what I'm playing for. I would love to play in The Open next week.
A good week here goes a long way for my season, as well, considering it's coming to an end pretty soon. If anything, would love to create some positive momentum here for the rest of the FedExCup season.
