Q. Second round 67, despite a disappointing bogey at the last, how would you assess your day's play?

RYAN GERARD: I playing really solid. I made a bunch of dumb mistakes and hit a lot of shots that didn't end up in good spots. Really frustrating round of golf. The course was easy. It was there for the taking, and I didn't execute golf shots the way I needed to.

Links golf, you get some crazy bounces, and I didn't do a very good job of maintaining composure when I got them. I played a lot better than the score but a very disappointing round.

Q. You seemed to make the most of the par 5s out there. Do you think they are the key, especially with the rerouting?

RYAN GERARD: I don't know, the rerouting, you play the holes in a different order. You kind of get the par 5s when you get them.

The pin on, I guess, the 12th hole now, that par 5 was pretty tough, but the other two were in spots where you could get it pretty close. You know, the wind is kind of the defence of the golf course.

So if you can kind of use that to your advantage on a few of the holes, like I guess 7 now, you can kind of get a way down there and get a short iron in.

Q. Came so close and a great result at the Memorial, another very difficult test. What can you take from that experience going into the weekend here?

RYAN GERARD: Just play good. Play better. I played really good there. I've been playing solid. Been hitting a lot of good golf shots. Making really good swings, and the ball is just not ending up where I want it to. Trying to stay positive. Easier said than done. I'm pretty upset right now about a lot of things I did on the golf course that put me this far back, but we're just going to go out there and try and make some good shots and put a few good holes together and see what happens.
