Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Perrine Delacour. What a round today, Perrine. Just walk me through that day. Looked like it was a lot of fun out there.
PERRINE DELACOUR: Yeah, it was definitely a lot of fun. My caddie definitely helped me to stay patient and enjoy the round of golf.
I got a good start on 10 with a birdie.
Awesome 3-wood on 15 with a great eagle.
Almost hole-in-one on 16, which I'm kind of disappointed because we had -- it's not for the card. It's actually if I made a hole-in-one this week during tournament week I cut the hair of my caddie, so that's a good challenge to have.
And then I stayed patient all day long beside the heat. It was pretty hot out there, but I still stayed patient. Of course you're going to make mistake, but I bounce back really well, which I'm super proud of myself.
Q. You are a player that has been here quite a bit. You understand what it's like to play this golf course in this kind of weather. How have you maintained your stamina throughout the week in what's been a toasty Evian?
PERRINE DELACOUR: I mean, it's mostly stay patient. I have my parents with me so they can take me out of golf during the night, which is good.
And then my team is doing an awesome job with like early in the week to set up everything right, and then I almost feel like it was not a major starting until today I guess.
And I still feel like I'm just enjoying golf in Evian and that's a good feeling to have again. Since I have my card already secured on the LPGA, it's just playing shot after shot and just enjoy the life.
Q. I think I saw a stat, this is the lowest opening round score by a Frenchwoman in this event. How much pride does that give you playing in your home country and just being able to do that for this local contingency?
PERRINE DELACOUR: Well, I just figure out. I just heard it. No, I mean, I think it's one of my lowest round in major. Maybe I did one in KPMG couple years ago.
But it's definitely great to start a day like that in France with all we know like having a lot of pressure and everything.
So definitely great to have a day like that.
Q. You really thrive off the energy of this home crowd, don't you? Now enjoyable is it to play in a major in front of your home fans?
PERRINE DELACOUR: Yeah, it's for sure a lot of fun. I mean, playing in France, it's always fun, but playing great in France, it's even better. You have the positivity of the people and like I say, it's great.
I have my parents here with me. It's the first tournament they watched me play in this year, so it's always fun to have the support from the family which is a big part of my journey in to golf.
Q. Do you prefer it? Does it bring more adrenaline out of you?
PERRINE DELACOUR: I would love to -- my goal is to have all of my family one day into a tournament. I have a little nephew who is watching it back home. Like he's obsessed with golf and he's in front of his TV and just watching, hoping to get the shot of me.
It's a lot of fun, and especially golf it's a family sport for us and it just brings a lot of memories. It's great for me to have the support for them and the love from them.
Q. The only other one I have is I feel like you have become like a big sister to some of the rookies on the LPGA Tour this season, of which Nastasia is one of them. What does it mean to support your fellow athletes and young up-and-comers in maybe a way you were supported when you were young?
PERRINE DELACOUR: I was supported when I was young and then I think it's a lot of support, too, to help them rookie year, and especially on the LPGA if you come from a non-U.S. country it's hard.
So for me it's always been a big part of my value as a human, so I always wanted to do it. And then it becomes like always like okay I have to do it. It's kind of part of the pro golfer life.
And to turn out great. Nastasia had a great group and then on top of it I end up being great friend with Carolina Chacarra who won on the LET last week. It was incredible. And then Mimi Rhodes is so much fun. And Carla, the Spanish girl is so much fun as well.
You build friendship outside of golf and you can share airbnb and just have fun with it.
