Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Lachlan Wood. Lachlan, 2-under 70 today, 6-under for the championship. I saw you had five birdies today.
LACHLAN WOOD: I think so, yeah.
Q. Can you just talk us through the round?
LACHLAN WOOD: Yeah, we played good. Like we had a plan set in stone that we've had from last year that's worked.
We left a lot of putts sitting on the edge, so that was a big difference. Like could have been anything today if they -- one more revolution towards the hole, you know, or tiny bit of pace off and we're in.
So then the couple bogeys that popped up weren't bad bogeys. Just unfortunate bad bounce, missing in the wrong spot kind of thing, which is disappointing, but overall pretty good.
Worked great as a team with Andy. Yeah, the course is -- you couldn't fault the course. Amazing golf course.
Q. I know you mentioned you had a plan going in. Was there anything that kind of deviated from that or how did you deal with your plan and ultimately the performance?
LACHLAN WOOD: Plan was good. Putting has been on and off for the last, I don't know, 12 months kind of thing. So if that was on that was the difference. Like my game tee-to-green is always consistent. Like 80% of fairways, 80% of greens pretty much 95% of the time. It's just a matter if the putts from four to 10-foot drop.
You know, you're talking 5- it 10-under; if they don't drop, you're talking zero to 4-under. That's all it was this week, is just not making the putts. I've got four putters in my locker. I don't know how I get them in the golf bag to get home.
But that's the idea, is like you just got to try and find what works for you, and especially in adaptive golf. We don't get TOUR trucks out here. We don't get what the big guys get. We have got to modify it ourselves and find a way.
Half the players out here aren't even supported by equipment companies, so you got to buy clubs and modify them and figure out what works. I guarantee if every player here had custom fitted clubs the score would drop immensely.
Q. Sure. How does it feel to win your impairment category again? Ultimately just sum up your week here of the Adaptive Open.
LACHLAN WOOD: Yeah, good. It gets me back next year. Takes the pressure off getting back in next year. I didn't come for the impairment category. I came for the overall win, as we all do.
I'm ranked third in the world. You know, impairment category, if someone asked me I would say, okay; I wouldn't say I won my impairment category.
It's a nice touch, and especially for some of the other impairment categories that have it really hard where they really are disadvantaged with their disabilities. It's really nice for them to win that and then win the U.S. Adaptive impairment categories on that side.
I guess it sounds bad on my behalf, but, yeah, I definitely came to go for the overall one. I am more disappointed than I am happy about the impairment category, but it's guarantees me a start next year. I'll be back next year providing I get the funding and support. Yeah, look forward to that.
Q. I guess just what does the rest of your year look like? Any more championships coming up?
LACHLAN WOOD: Yeah, we've got a golf event in Florida in September. Like a teams event for G4D, and that's got a paid price purse. So myself and Brendan Lawlor are teeing up for that. I'll try and qualify for whatever events I can on the PGA Australasia. I'll go and play some pro-am and I'll go back to coaching golf out of my home studio at home and help people around my local community.
