Quick Quotes
Q. Here with Kiefer Jones. 3-over 75 today; +3 for the championship. Couple birdies today, but can you just talk us through the round?
KEIFER JONES: Yeah. You know, started -- probably had my worst day ball striking. Just wasn't hitting it as close. So I had started the round with some lengthy birdie putts to just try to cozy up there and ended up having to make a couple tough par putts to start the round.
Made a nice birdie on three. Kind of got me going. Got in the little groove. And I don't think I had a bogey until six and then made another bogey and then double on 10 and 11. So that's kind of how -- got a little bit out of control there for a couple holes. Just couple bad bounces and whatever.
But, yeah, it was good for the most part. Tried to hit a lot of greens and tried to just make a few putts today, so...
Q. You lead and will win the vision impairment category. What does that mean to you and your time here at Woodmont?
KEIFER JONES: Yeah, I mean, I've won it every year, so it's not really an expectation, but it's -- that's my first goal, is to win my category. This year my goal was to finish in the top 10, which I haven't looked at the scoreboard, I don't think I've done that today. But I would say I gave myself my best chance yet to do that.
You know, that is -- overall my goal is to eventually get close enough to push for that. You know, we're there. We're getting close. But there is some really good golfers out here so it's hard.
Q. And you're here for last year, this year as well. How would you say that you found the course, especially the transition throughout the course of this week?
KEIFER JONES: I mean, Woodmont is the best course we've played yet in this championship. I would say it played a little harder last year than this year. This year was a little softer with all the rain we had while we were here. The practice rounds seemed firm and fast, but we had some rain during the championship so it was a little soft and you were actually able to kind of control the ball come into the greens.
But the greens are just so nice. When you hit a putt on a line, you know, they roll really true. So I don't think you'll hear anyone complain about how these greens roll. The conditions of this course are just perfect. I love the way that they -- the design of it and the way that they maintain it.
It's really something special, and I hope that we can continue to follow this championship and the next ones with the standard that Woodmont set.
Q. What does the rest of the year look like for you with competitive golf?
KEIFER JONES: I have the Canadian All-Abilities early July, and then I actually got an exemption into a pro event, the Alberta Open in Calgary, Alberta. So that's my hometown. It's just outside Calgary. Really looking forward to that event. It's not disabled golf. I think I'm the first disabled golfer to play in it, so I am just hoping to go make a cut there.
But, yeah, between that and the Canadian All-Abilities, that's going to be my August. Then in September I'm playing in Florida, Bill Peas (phonetic) and the weekend golf, too. They host a golf tournament down there. It's a two-man best ball. I got Josh Williams as my partner and we're going to try to go do some damage as a Canadian duo.
