THE MODERATOR: We are joined by Nelly Korda ahead of the Amundi Evian Championship. Nelly, can you just kind of talk about what you've learned about this golf course over the past years playing it?

NELLY KORDA: What I've learned about this golf course, I feel like I'm always learning about this golf course. They good change a couple things this year. They've added to the green on one and five and then they added two bunkers on 18.

So there are a few things they changed this year but I think that Evian is special in itself, where you also really have to -- you hit some really good shots and they end up in the complete wrong areas and that's just kind of how it is.

It's all about patience this week.

Q. And with three majors in six weeks, what have you been doing to try to conserve energy and get through this week with your best game?

NELLY KORDA: Trying to prioritize sleep and rest. It's a lot definitely. The scheduling of three majors in a short amount of time is definitely a lot mentally, physically, and with it being kind of week and a half ago we were in Minnesota and then this week we're in France and then kind of traveling all over, it can get a lot.

So making sure that you're prioritizing your body, your rest, and not overdoing it. Just when you kind of think you need to go to the gym maybe or wanting to rest, I think that at this point in the season sometimes resting is actually more beneficial.

Q. So this is Wimbledon week, too. Wimbledon, tennis.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah.

Q. So I wanted to ask you how much tennis has influenced your career.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I mean, of course with my parents' background as tennis players that was kind of like the main sport that I played. Also two of my idols growing up were both tennis players as well, so I think it's definitely influenced me in a way.

Nowadays I rarely ever watch tennis unless my brother is playing, but I would say that as my character development-wise, tennis definitely influenced me a lot.

Q. Yeah. I heard that -- I mean, you have a relationship with Rafa Nadal had. You mentioned that before.

NELLY KORDA: Uh-huh.

Q. I heard you were impressed by the documentary on Rafa.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, very impressive.

Q. What impressed you about that?

NELLY KORDA: His resilience, his fight, his love for the sport. I mean, you really saw how much he gave every single day through the ups and downs. He just loved playing. Like he was his true best self out on the tennis court. That's why he put his body through as much as he did.

But the dedication to his sport I think is what impressed me the most. Also like his character. He's so humble. He's super kind. There is just so much to admire about him.

Q. So how do you think you apply that to your own career?

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day you try to be your true best self. But I would say the internal fight, the love that he has for the sport. At the end of the day it's all about passion. I feel that that's what radiated from Nadal when he was on a tennis court was so much passion.

I feel like even if you're in a different industry, if you're in any type of business you have to have passion for what you're doing. Then you're your best true self.

I feel like that's one way you can inspire other people as well.

Q. Last thing; also about Nadal. He's crazy about golf. He was in Augusta this year.

NELLY KORDA: Uh-huh.

Q. Have you had a chance to play with him?

NELLY KORDA: I have not, no. It would be an honor to play with him, but I have not played with him yet.

Q. You said two tennis players were your idols growing up. You didn't say who they were.

NELLY KORDA: So obviously Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer, which two rivals obviously in their era. But I think that they both possession something that I admired. I loved the elegance and -- does that mean we're done?

Q. You must get tired of all the grand slam career talk.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah.

Q. Does that get to you, or you just take every tournament as it comes, but at the back of your mind you would love to achieve it?

NELLY KORDA: I think it's amazing that it's even getting talked about. It's an accomplishment in itself that it's even being talked about, so I'm very proud of that.

Obviously you've heard from many athletes say, and I've said it, pressure is a privilege, which that --

Q. Billie Jean King.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah. So I think I just try to spin it, of yeah, some people may think it's a lot of pressure, but I think I'm just really proud of myself for even putting myself into that position and it being talked about.

And for my mindset every week, it's just like see how it goes. Like there is no really advantage to being world No. 1 when it comes to golf. I don't get a better draw. I don't have a bye. It's just that you're playing good golf, the best golf right now. That's all that it is.

With golf there is so many variabilities. I think that's what makes it a unique sport and why I personally -- yes, ranking is amazing, but I don't concentrate on it too much because there is no added plus to it in a way like maybe in tennis or other sports.

Q. Yeah, you get the better draw.

NELLY KORDA: Yeah, correct, but you don't in golf. It is what it is. At the end of the day it is the luck of the draw. You just have to go out and everyone starts at zero every single week.

Q. How would you describe your relationship with this property?

NELLY KORDA: I don't know. It's Evian. That's all I'm going to say, is that it's -- I've hit some really good shots and ended up in some really bad places and hit some bad places and ended up in good places.

What I learned every year is patience is key out here. I'm still figuring it out. Like it's year, I don't know, ten, nine, I don't really know. Every year I learn something new about this place.

So, yeah, it's just Evian.
