Max Togisala

Rockville, Maryland, USA

Woodmont Country Club (South Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Max Togisala, 5-under today, 4-under for the championship. Five birdies, no bogeys. Can you just talk us through your round today?

MAX TOGISALA: It started off a little slow. I mean, I think it could have been even lower if I had the putter hotter quicker, but happy with how I played. Putter was doing great, driver was doing great. Everything was good. Kind of everything went my way today.

Q. And you mentioned driver and putter. Were there either one of those that you would say was the catalyst to kind of going so well?

MAX TOGISALA: I would say driver is probably what's helped me a lot go lower because I've been able to hit the ball really far and get pretty close to the greens and have a little chip shot or a little wedge.

Q. Any hole today kind of stick out as like a really important one that kind of kept the momentum going?

MAX TOGISALA: Yeah, hole 13, I hit it into the bunker by the greenside bunker, and I got an up-and-down right there. So that was a huge one.

Then on 18 I hit it out of the bunker right there and made the putt for birdie. Bunker play, those two holes were definitely big holes for me.

Q. Yesterday you had a strong round, but today you were stronger. Any learnings from yesterday that kind of like helped you today to go so low?

MAX TOGISALA: Yesterday I was going through just a little swing, and today I just on the range fixed it a little bit and felt more slotted and ready to go. It was helpful.

Q. You're in the top five heading into tomorrow. What does the next 24 hours look like for you, and how do you kind of prepare for the final round of the U.S. Adaptive Open?

MAX TOGISALA: I'm going to go home and probably take a nap, relax, and not think about golf too much. Just have fun with my family while I'm here.

Q. I'm just curious like when you can feel like you've got things slotted, as you said, how do you keep the mindset during the competition to try to go as low as you possibly can without obviously making the big mistake that you don't want to make?

MAX TOGISALA: I don't know. I kind of just get into a zone where I am picking a target and I'm only thinking of that. I'm so confident that I'm going to hit right there. And then having the putter be able to roll really well and being confident with that was very helpful.

Just staying in my own head and just staying relaxed the whole time.

Q. Can you talk a little bit about how your experience in this championship has evolved over the four years you've been playing in it and just like you've obviously done very, very well. This is your second 67 in this championship. Can you talk a little bit about how it has evolved, especially for the seated players and how they interact with all the other players in the other impairment categories?

MAX TOGISALA: Yes, as a seated golfer, I feel like we don't get the credit for some of the scores that we put up, but hopefully what I'm doing this week and previous years have shown that we're able to compete against everyone else.

We're all just happy to be out here too. It's a championship for us, and we're super happy.
