Q. Why don't you talk about the round. What kind of went well for and you what you thought of the course.

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, no, was really pleased with the round. I played solid. I didn't maybe hit it as -- let's be honest, I think I was really pleased with the round considering last year obviously just stiffed it the whole time.

So I was managing my expectations and not getting ahead of myself if that makes sense. Trying to be patient. Worked really well.

So I hit it really good and I was really pleased how I hit it. I battled quite well today. Holed a lot of good, nice par putts or, you know, holed out well.

So I was really pleased with my game and excited for the next two days.

Q. You had a lot of great shots last year. Did you see any similar shots that you had today?

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, I was really pleased with the play today. I hit some very good shots. Yeah, it was good signs.

Q. I don't know if it you looked at the leaderboard, but it is pretty tight going into tomorrow. Do you have any mindset, game plan, or what's your overall mindset for tomorrow?

KIPP POPERT: Just go out there and try and shoot as best as I can tomorrow really. That's all you can do. I haven't actually been out -- I kept looking but it kept switching off. I think Ben said Brendan was at 5-under, so, yeah, just keep going, and yeah, see how low we can go tomorrow.

Q. Let's quickly talk about your birthday plans again. You said your dad brought you a little treat. Just talk about you're going to do to celebrate.

KIPP POPERT: Yeah, so it's Colin the Caterpillar. It's like a famous cake from M&S back home. Yeah, looking forward to that. It's a bit broken up, but should be good.

Yeah, it was Ben's, my caddie's birthday yesterday, so we did his birthday yesterday. Had steak yesterday, so not sure that's for dinner tonight.

Q. Any fun plans after the championship?

KIPP POPERT: I've got to head home straight after. I was at Juan's wedding a few days before this so quite a while away from home. I'll text a few of my friends but we'll see.
