Q. You've been in contention all week, and six birdies today. How did it go out there? How did it feel?
CHRIS DEVLIN: I made a number of mistakes on the back nine. Misclubbed a couple of times, misjudged the wind with how difficult it was. A run of bogeys near the end, which was disappointing.
Other than that, pretty solid all day and did not have my driver as good today, which was disappointing. I missed a few fairways, and they were very costly. It was a really up-and-down day. Obviously I made enough birdies, but yeah, just a few miscues here and there with club selections. It is what it is. It's a U.S. Open golf course, so it's going to be up-and-down. So I played solid all week.
The course was there in front of you, I think, for the taking today. I just gave up a double bogey on hole 8, which was a hard setback because I was going pretty well. But again, just wait and see how it goes tomorrow and try and fight back.
Q. Some rain this morning, a little cooler. How do you think conditions have changed as the week has gone on?
CHRIS DEVLIN: Not too much really. It's still so hot out there. That was the difference. You can definitely tell, as the rains get on, the wind gets up a little bit more and the course tends to dry out just in the greens a little bit more and you have to be more careful about where your landing areas are.
But again, that's the U.S. Open, too; you just have to be prepared and try to figure out where your landing area actually is and where is the safe spot to putt from. You just have to take all these things into consideration to play these types of golf courses.
I'm playing well enough, I just have to tidy up a few things and tidy up that scorecard a little bit better tomorrow.
