Quick Quotes
Q. So you made it into the championship weekend. How do you feel going into the third round?
PAUL STANKOWSKI: I feel good. I'm tired. I'm glad I'm off the golf course now, and let these boys challenge this humidity.
No, I feel good. Tee-to-green, pretty solid. Three days, I've gotten a pretty good feel for what's going on on the green. There's a lot there, and it's a balance.
Q. At one point you were in the lead. Were you out there looking at the scoreboards? Did you know anything about it?
PAUL STANKOWSKI: I looked at it one time. I saw the board. To me, it's Friday, and a lot can happen. Yeah, I'm just trying to chip away at it.
Q. I know you're probably disappointed with the double bogey on 8, but that's really been your only bonus on the scorecard this weekend. Walk me through what happened there.
PAUL STANKOWSKI: Yeah, obviously you want to limit your mistakes there. I hit a poor tee shot there. I hit a poor tee shot on -- I forget the hole, 6 maybe? 5 or 6, par-5. I tried to get after one, and I pulled it, and I hit the same tee shot there.
The lie looked good enough. I was just trying to get it up over the little water feature, laying it out there 140 yards from the green. I misread the lie. I thought it would be pretty easy to get a pitching wedge and carry it about 100 yards, and I didn't. Those are the mistakes. I could have laid up short of the hole, but I thought I had the lie guessed right. Sometimes you guess wrong.
Q. It's okay because you're still only two behind heading into the weekend. How do you feel about your position?
PAUL STANKOWSKI: Right now I like it. I'm under par. I said starting the week my goal is I'd like to shoot par or better and I'll be really happy. So that's still a goal. We'll just see what happens.
