JOHN DEERE CLASSIC

July 3, 2026

Lucas Glover

Silvis, Illinois, USA

TPC Deere Run

Quick Quotes

Q. Lucas, great start. You talked about backing up that 63. Feeling pretty good about it at that point?

LUCAS GLOVER: Yeah, got off to a great start. Birdied the first two, 10 and 11. Obviously started on the back, and then hit great shots on 12 and 13. Just misread them a hair.

You know, kind of just kept playing nice. Nothing spectacular, just solid, good golf. Could have made a few more on the front, but I didn't, but I'm still very happy with the way I played.

Q. Did it get a little tougher later in the day?

LUCAS GLOVER: The wind was a little swirly, but no, I mean, scores are still really, really good. So, yeah, I hit some good shots and didn't convert and hit some bad shots, but got them up-and-down on the front.

It's just golf, so rest up and get ready for tomorrow. It's going to be more of the same. Scores are going to be low. A lot of hungry kids out there wanting to play well, so we'll do our best.

Q. A lot of guys battling for FedEx Cup position entering the stretch run, including yourself. Is that a part of your thinking as you came this week?

LUCAS GLOVER: Not really, honestly. I'm too old to chase that stuff, to be fair. I just want to play. I just wanted to play well again, and I've struggled. Having two days like this just gives me a little belief that it's in there, you know?

Been working hard at it and hadn't seen many results and have for two days. Doesn't mean anything tomorrow. Doesn't mean anything Sunday. But for these first two days my work has been paying off. I got a couple more days to keep fighting and keep doing it.

Q. You fought to bring it back in 2021. Is being there again, does it feel different? Do you feel closer? Do you feel like you've been there, done that?

LUCAS GLOVER: I mean, this is my 23rd year. There's nothing I hadn't been there, done that, to be fair. I've played in the last groups and played great, and I've played in the last groups and played terrible.

There's no formula other than hydrate and rest and keep the pedal down this week, because it's not going to be able to hang on. There's going to be birdies and eagles. It's going to be fun.

Q. Comparing Thursday's round and today's round, happier with either one, more proud of either one compared to the other?

LUCAS GLOVER: Honestly, probably just the difference between playing in the morning and the afternoon. I mean, that's completely honest and transparent. The ball was going forever this afternoon, just with the heat, and just the ball is going a long way.

I hit a couple of nice shots on 7 and 8. My 16, 17th hole, thought they were going to be good, and ended up missing the green. Just misjudged them 2 or 3 yards too far.

Yeah, I think it was just a difference in that. I think yesterday morning if I'd have played this morning and played the same round, I might have shot one more instead of 3 or 2. I don't know what I shot, but yeah, I think that was the only difference.

The ball is really going a long way when it's hot like this.

Q. That little bit of rain this morning, that didn't do anything to the course, conditions?

LUCAS GLOVER: No, the course is beautiful. Fairways are still bouncing out. I didn't notice any difference in the greens. Maybe a little softer this afternoon because of the rain, but yeah, the course is in great shape. The rain didn't do a whole lot.

Q. You mentioned all the hungry young kids out here. How do you have that mindset and the confidence to not only keep up with them, but I mean, you're leading the tournament, you're beating them all right now?

LUCAS GLOVER: Yeah, I know good and well that it's going to take a lot more, so there's not going to be any hanging on. The peddle has to be down, stay aggressive. I like that mindset versus, say, trying to hang on and just make pars a bunch.

It's easier to sleep on a lead that way would be the best way I know how to say it when you know that you don't have to play like I played yesterday and today to even have a chance.

Q. There's a 50-year-old guy six shots behind you. Are you worried about keeping up with the older guys at some point?

LUCAS GLOVER: That Zach Johnson guy? Yeah, I know him (smiling).

Yeah, that was cool. I was stretching this morning, and I got to watch him play a couple of holes. Looks the same. Zach and I have been close for a long time. He's a good man. You know, meant a lot to this tournament. Means a lot to me.

I'm happy he's playing great, especially for the people around here that love him so much. It's great for the event. It's great for him, great for his family. You know, he's a great dude.

Q. Between the two of you, this is score one for the old guys?

LUCAS GLOVER: Yeah, maybe. We'll see. Nobody is giving trophies away on Friday.
