Q. Nice opening round, 2-under, birdies on 3, 12, and 15. Give us some thoughts.

FREDDIE JACOBSON: Kind of one of those when you tee off early and it's a little cooler, wet grass in the morning. Just try to hit fairways and greens really. Did well doing so. Got in trouble off 1 tee, made a bogey. Other than that, had good chances; did well.

Greens are tough out there, they're really fast.

Q. Fast and firm?

FREDDIE JACOBSEN: Yeah, it's playing really well. The course is playing well. If you play good, you're going to have a chance, but you can end up in trouble quickly.

I felt we managed it well. Maybe one bad decision all day. Other than that, I think we played really strategic and executed well.

Q. How about anything you learned from last year? Finished well at the Broadmoor.

FREDDIE JACOBSON: It's totally different there because such tough weeds on these greens because it was all on the hillside.

But with the USGA, I think they're set up fairly. If you play well, you're going to do well. If you strike a little bit, you're going to get penalized. I look forward to the rest of the week.
