TRAVELERS CHAMPIONSHIP

June 28, 2026

Ben James

Cromwell, Connecticut, USA

TPC River Highlands

Quick Quotes

Q. What didn't go as well over the weekend that went well the first two days, would you say?

BEN JAMES: Say that again?

Q. What didn't go as well for you today and yesterday that went better for you the first two round?

BEN JAMES: That's a good question. Honestly, I'm not really sure. Just didn't play good overall.

Q. Were you just missing putts or missing fairways, just a little bit off?

BEN JAMES: A little bit of everything, yeah.

Q. How was it playing in front of your home crowd and your friends and family for four days, what was that like playing on a weekend here?

BEN JAMES: Yeah, no, it's always awesome. It was nice to play two good rounds and get a little bit in the mix. It's still cool. Every made putt I make you get a big round of applause. The first tee is awesome. There's a lot of good stuff. I felt really confident after the first two days, I just had a pretty tough weekend.

Q. Are you kind of worn out, you are taking next week off, just talk about that decision.

BEN JAMES: Yeah, maybe. Maybe. Definitely a lot to think about. I played very poorly this weekend, but I've been having a lot of good rounds though. Been shooting some nice low scores in these last couple weeks outs here, so that's something good to pat myself on the back. A 63 in Canada, a 64 here.

Q. 67.

BEN JAMES: 67 at the U.S. Open. So a lot of good, it's just unfortunately out here you can't shoot over par. A bad round has to be a couple under par and some things are definitely off. But a lot of good as well, so not all negative. A lot of good.

Q. Are you going to put the clubs away for a couple days and just relax up in Connecticut, are you going somewhere or just take the week?

BEN JAMES: That's a good question. I'm going to hang out with my friends tonight and we'll good from there.

Q. Are you playing in Louisville in two weeks, is that the plan?

BEN JAMES: Yes, I will be there.

Q. And then the week at the alternate event?

BEN JAMES: Yeah.

Q. You're going to play every week you can now up until the playoffs?

BEN JAMES: Probably. I know I'm playing the next two. ISCO and Puntacana for sure, so, yeah.

Q. On Monday you talked about learning at every tournament. What are some things you're going to take away this week that maybe did you know going into the week?

BEN JAMES: Yeah, I was pretty comfortable. I was ready to go. I had two good rounds. Definitely need to kind of sit back and think about this weekend. Not my best stuff. Again, like I said, it was really cool, every putt you make you get a big round of applause, every good shot. So every all it was a really fun week. Just not the finish I would like, but that's golf. Again, very thankful for the support I had over this week.

Q. Do you have to short memory flush get back to work right away on things so you don't forget? I know Joe was asking you about taking a break, you know what I mean?

BEN JAMES: Yeah, you know, I'm disappointed now, it's hard with the media because you guys pull me five minutes after I sign my card. You give me another hour and I'll be just fine. But take some time off and practice and get ready Louisville.

Q. Your mom and dad being out here watching their child's dream come true, could you touch on the support of mom and dad through this whole journey and walking along your side and what they have meant to you?

BEN JAMES: Yeah, mom and dad have done so much. Obviously every parent sacrifices a lot. My parents have for sure sacrifice add to know for me to be in the position I am playing at the Travelers Championship and being on the PGA TOUR. So I can't thank them enough. I know they're not looking at my score, they're just -- I'm ready to be loved by them after this long day today and the long week, but very thankful to have good parents.

Q. Another steak dinner tonight?

BEN JAMES: I don't know. I don't know.

Q. There was some news earlier in the week. In your position coming through PGA TOUR U as the No. 1 player, and one of the questions unanswered is what happens on the Champion/Challenger type schedule. If someone asked your opinion, which they probably won't, but what would you say for the top, for the PGA TOUR U No. 1 player in 2028, would you send 'em straight to the top level?

BEN JAMES: It's not my decision so why would I have input?

Q. Do you have a thought on it? Would you have been just as enticed either way?

BEN JAMES: I mean, out of college you're just looking to play the best golf you can. We're lucky we have a path because before we were just going to Q-School. So whatever the TOUR decides is much better than we had before. I know every college kid is very thankful that they have a path.
