WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

June 24, 2026

Ann-Sophie Bourgault

Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, United Kingdom

Quick Quotes

Q. That was a big result today.

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: Yeah, it really was.

Q. What went well?

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: I think the biggest thing was my mentality to just stay strong and keep it one shot at a time and focus on my own game.

I think I kept it pretty simple for myself. Hit a lot of fairways, a lot of greens, and my caddie helped me a lot with my club selection because it's quite a difficult golf course and a lot of wind, so you have to be quite strategic. So that really helped.

Putting was really good today too. Made some clutch putts under pressure.

Q. Where does that result rank for you of the things you've done in golf?

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: Definitely up there. I think probably, I would say, one of the best things to date. I've never played such a big tournament in match play format before.

Yesterday I was going into a playoff to get into match play, so the whole thing has been a battle, but I would say that this is probably one of my biggest accomplishments so far.

Q. You were in the playoff last night?

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: I was, yes.

Q. So it was a late finish?

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: Yes, it was a late finish. I got back to my hotel at 10:00 at night and got back here at 7:00 a.m. So it was a quick turnaround.

Q. It didn't affect you?

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: No, not really. I wear a WHOOP, it's like a fitness measuring device, and I got a 20 percent recovery score, which is really bad. But I just put that aside and tried to start new, start fresh and just take it one shot at a time.

Q. The playoff hole, was it just about keeping steady and practicing --

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: Yes.

Q. And your opponent going in the rough?

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: Yes. Just walked onto the tee box like it was another hole, just continuing the round. Fortunate with Paula's tee shot, but I just had to stick to my own game plan and stick to my process like I have been the last three days.

Q. When you outplay the defending champion, does it make you feel like you can beat anyone?

ANN-SOPHIE BOURGAULT: It definitely gives me a lot of confidence. But I'll just keep doing what I've been doing: Keep focusing on my processes, my routine, play the best golf that I can and just enjoy it. I'm really grateful to be up here.
