Q. Kingston, you've waited a long time for this moment, and what did it mean to have Kelvin [Sampson] and Chris [Cenac Jr.] come and greet you?
KINGSTON FLEMINGS: It means everything. I always say it's family. So being able to greet Coach Samp and greet Chris after I got drafted was definitely great. Being there with my family.
Getting drafted to the Hawks was definitely a surreal moment. I was just sitting there anxiously the whole time waiting on it to happen. It was definitely exciting, and I'm glad I'm a Hawk.
Q. You had your letter to the GMs. Can you talk about what inspired that decision and what went into writing it and why you did that and your decision-making there?
KINGSTON FLEMINGS: Yeah, like I say, people know me on the court, but I don't think they really know me off the court and the person I am.
So I think it gave me a good opportunity to write and tell people the person that I am and who I am. I think that's really what was behind it, honestly, just trying to show people the person I am.
Q. You're going to a franchise that made a little bit more noise this past year in the playoffs than expected. Could you talk a little bit about what you associate with this franchise and kind of how you view them and what you're expecting for next year?
KINGSTON FLEMINGS: Yeah, definitely grateful to be a Hawk. The only team that took the Knicks to [six] games [in the playoffs].
I mean, I think I've always been a winner, in high school and college, and so going to the NBA and being immediately drafted to a winning organization is definitely super important to me.
I'm excited to learn behind CJ McCollum, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Dyson Daniels. These are great players in the league. So being able to pick up tips and tricks from them is definitely going to be great. I'm excited to go play and go hoop.
