WOMEN’S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

June 23, 2026

Farah O'Keefe

Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland, United Kingdom

Quick Quotes

Q. An eventful round?

FARAH O'KEEFE: Yeah, I feel like it was pretty steady going on the front nine, then got a little hot there towards the start of the back. I had a couple of really good putts drop in. I made a couple of, I wouldn't say smart bogeys, kind of dumb bogeys.

Then on 17 I had kind of a long putt from off the green fall for eagle. Then 18 I made like a six-footer to save par.

So it was kind of all over the place, but I hit it in that left bunker on No. 1 twice in a row and made par both times. So I guess it's not the worst place to be.

Q. Not bad if you're all over the place and still up there?

FARAH O'KEEFE: Yeah, it was good. I just need to figure out -- I mean, I'm scoring well enough. I just would like to figure out how to get my drive to go a little bit straighter, but that's about it.

Q. I suppose that eagle was good timing after a couple of rough holes?

FARAH O'KEEFE: That made me happy.

Q. This has obviously been a pretty exciting time with last week as well. Are you feeding off that as well?

FARAH O'KEEFE: Oh, totally, yeah. Though I think all of the energy and the good vibes from last week have kind of stuck around for this week.

I just love surrounding myself with great people who are positive, energetic. Everybody that I get to travel with nowadays pretty much fits that mold. They're all awesome people, and they keep me excited and happy. And I try to do the same thing. I try to repay that favour to them.

Yeah, I've been having a great time these last few weeks. Really the last few months I've had some incredible things kind of go my way, and it's really been a treat to be able to compete and do what I love.

Q. It must give you a lot of confidence when you know what your form is and you feel like everything's going for you.

FARAH O'KEEFE: Yeah, totally. I think confidence is 90 percent of this sport, up there with the mental game. But that's something that we talked about at the University of Texas. We talked about confidence isn't how you feel; you choose to be confident. It's not every day you wake up and feel a hundred percent, but you can kind of trick yourself into feeling a hundred percent.

Q. Compared to this event last year, how do you reflect on that and your aims for this year?

FARAH O'KEEFE: I'd love to do one better -- Paula (laughter). I think that I've grown a lot as a person in the last year. I've definitely gained some length. Even Brian's been talking about it.

So I think there's been a lot of different things that have kind of gone my way, and all the hard work is starting to pay off, but I've also stopped caring as much about results. I know that, if I take care of all the things that I need to take care of, the results will take care of itself.

Q. And lastly, for the rest of the week, your ambition is to win it? You have no reason to believe that you can't do that?

FARAH O'KEEFE: Absolutely. I don't really play in a tournament unless I think there's an opportunity for me to win. At the end of the day, I still put my all into it. This is what I do. This is what I love.

I would love to win this event. I would love to go one better this year than last year, but at the end of the day, it's going to be a giant learning experience.

All I look for when I come over here to play links golf is I know the experience is going to serve me when I one day play in a British Open because this kind of golf is so different to anything else that you face out there. So to be able to be closer to the roots of the game and learn a little bit more about how to play golf at its finest has been really, really cool.
