U.S. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP 2026

June 19, 2026

Manav Shah

Southampton, New York, USA

Shinnecock Hills Golf Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Just overall first thoughts on the week overall and just how you're feeling after today's round.

MANAV SHAH: Yeah, obviously would have liked to play a little better. I don't think the score reflected how I did out there. This place is very razor-thin in terms of margins.

But, you know, I did my best. I hit a lot of good shots. Truly left it all out there, and hit every shot as best I could, and here's where we are.

Q. You had to wait a while yesterday before you could tee off. What were the emotions and feelings like just waiting around and waiting to actually go out there?

MANAV SHAH: Yeah, it was kind of crazy. I just was kind of watching it at home on TV, and it was obviously playing really hard and windy. But it was good to see that and just get some rest in.

I put in quite a bit of work Monday through Wednesday, so it was nice to get some sleep Thursday morning and come out feeling refreshed and ready to go.

Q. Then you had a quick turnaround today, as well. What has that turnaround been like for you?

MANAV SHAH: That was tough. I'm running on fumes right now, but adrenaline got me through. I think we left here at 9:00 p.m. We grabbed a chicken sandwich on the way home, went to sleep at 10:30, got up at 4:00, and played almost 27 holes.

Q. You're the first player from Bakersfield to play in a U.S. Open. Thoughts on that and being the first one?

MANAV SHAH: Yeah, it's obviously a blessing to carry my community with me. I just hope it inspires a lot of kids back home to chase their dreams.

Q. You talked about it, but the course conditions and the course setup, your thoughts on that when you played these last couple of rounds and what you saw on TV earlier, as well?

MANAV SHAH: Yeah, I think the USGA did a good job of keeping it playable with the high winds. They had to keep the greens sort of softer and slower. So, yeah, I think if you hit good shots, you got rewarded, and if you didn't, you still got penalized. It was a good setup.
