MEIJER LPGA CLASSIC

June 19, 2026

Jing Yan

Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Blythefield Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Jing after her second round at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Another solid round today. Can you just kind of talk about where you feel like your game is at and what's really going well for you out there?

JING YAN: Well, I feel like I struck it pretty well the last two rounds. And I putted well, so I felt like, you know, that kind of adds up to birdies. And I was pretty happy because just it's like always a good thing to be making birdies, so, yeah.

Q. Yeah, made six birdies today and zero bogeys. What do you feel like the key is to avoid bogeys out here?

JING YAN: I think if you hit the greens and you give yourself like good chances for birdies, you probably are in pretty good shape. I felt like I could probably hit a couple more fairways. Sometimes it gets -- the difficulty level increases when you're in the rough because they're pretty healthy and thick at the moment.

It's a matter of managing some of the drives, especially you have couple holes where it's like 17 or like No. 8 where it kind of gets a little bit tighter.

So I felt like did I that pretty well most of the round.

Q. And then common theme with a lot people at the top of the leaderboard is really taking advantage the par-5s. You did the same thing today making four birdies on the par-5s. Can you just kind of talk about the five par-5s out here and what makes them so gettable?

JING YAN: I think that depending on the wind it can really be to your advantage on some of the holes. No. 8 has become much longer throughout the years and much more tight. With the wind helping the last two days I can get there with a 3-wood.

But then again, you have maybe 14 where it's like it becomes much more difficult with a 20-mile-an-hour wind anyway, so becomes less reachable. Kind of brings in the tight bit of fairway where there is rough.

So we have some gettable par-5s on this course and there is five of them, so better try and capitalize while you can.

Q. You mentioned your ball striking being really good. Right now you're leading the field in greens in regulation, which is very impressive considering the wind right now. What do you feel like you had to focus on to make sure you hit the greens but also hitting the greens in the right spots to make birdies?

JING YAN: Yeah, just really trying to keep it simple; stick to my landing spot; maybe decide which pins I can go for and try not to be too aggressive when it brings in a little bit of trouble.

So maybe the statistic is a little misleading. Maybe I'm like 40 feet from the hole and still on the green, but, yeah, I'm glad that that's been kind of an improvement over the last couple years.

Q. Starting today until the end of the week the Grand Rapids crowd really starts to come out. Can you talk about the crowds you saw today and how nice it is to see this many people out here supporting?

JING YAN: Yeah, I love it. I feel like every year it's been bigger and bigger. This year I've seen a lot more stands and a lot more fans out, and it's just great when you have a nice reaction when you make a putt and get to interact with the crowd.

I love like the Michigan area fans. They're just super welcoming and super supportive, and, yeah, it's nice to hear the cheers.

Q. And then right now currently in the lead heading into the weekend. How excited are you to get out there, feel those nerves and get everything going heading into the weekend with a lead?

JING YAN: Yeah, it's not a position that I've had too much experience with in the past, so I'm really excited and looking forward to being in this position.

It's better to -- I feel like it's better to just play your game and try not think about it too much. But at the same time, learn to embrace it a little bit if you're nervy or struggle with that.

I feel like in the past maybe I have been, so, yeah, just try to learn to embrace it and have fun with it.

Q. Minus the snow, you kind of saw everything Michigan weather has to handle in the first to two days. How do you feel like you handled it, and what kind of challenge does that provide to you?

JING YAN: I like it. I think that it's definitely a challenge when you get cold and a bit of rain. You know, it's easy to kind of back out mentally, but you really have to just stick to the game that you're playing. It's an outdoor sport so just take what comes with it.

Q. You talked about being in the lead. What's the mentality you have going in now trying to defend the lead going into the third day?

JING YAN: I think I'm still going to try and play my game and just do the things that I've been doing the last couple days. Yeah, I think that if I can do that, I'll be pretty satisfied.

Q. Are there any notes you've made or tricks you picked up on the last two days that will help carry you into the weekend?

JING YAN: I think that with -- as the course gets a little bit firmer it'll play a little bit -- it might play a little bit more difficult, so we'll see if the wind keeps up and how it interacts, but overall very similar game plan.
