MEIJER LPGA CLASSIC

June 19, 2026

Ana Belac

Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Blythefield Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Ana after her second round at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Solid round today. Really took advantage of the par-5s out there. Can you talk about every week par-5s are important, but seems like everyone we've talked to this week is really hammering the par-5s. Talk about that a little bit.

ANA BELAC: Yeah, there is obviously five par-5s out there. There is some reachable ones, so especially like 18 basically like with downwind today plays like a par-4.

So almost makes you feel that if you don't make a birdie you're losing strokes. You kind of almost want to set a mentality that's is a par-4. Yeah, having five par-5s really frees you up.

There is a lot ways to make a birdie. You can stick an approach close or you can go for it. Just like this course like just like brings a lot of variety into play.

Q. And then only three bogeys on the card so far this week. What have been the keys do you think to avoiding those bigger numbers so far?

ANA BELAC: Yeah, just tried to hit a lot of fairways. I feel like this course this year sets up pretty well for me off the tee. In previous years I used to hit a draw off the tee and now I hit like a little pull cut. I feel like it opened up a lot of different angles for me, just looks for comfortable.

But still, I'm not hitting driver everywhere. I'm just trying to play pretty smart golf. With a lot of downwind long holes you can afford hitting something less off the tee and still having like a 9-iron in. I'm just trying to be smart about it and take my chances when you can.

Q. Last three weeks, three really good finishes, including one at a major. Talked to you at Q-Series. You made some swing changes. Do you feel like now the swing changes are becoming second nature and you're able to play your game of golf?

ANA BELAC: Yeah, I feel like I stop overthinking my swing as much. I have done a lot of great work with my sports psychologist. I used to feel very uncomfortable out here, very anxious, and I feel like I'm finally starting to get my footing out here feeling for comfortable.

It's just golf. Like if you shoot a 67 here or any other tour it's about the same thing. I feel like I'm really starting to enjoy playing out here without really worrying too much.

Before I was trying to make cuts. When you try to make a cut you probably don't make a cut. So just feels good that I can put myself in contention. Like that finish at ShopRite gave me so much confidence that like my game is good enough to be out here, and then just seeing what happens every week.

Q. Just about to mention that. In contention at ShopRite; obviously going into the weekend now near the top of the leaderboard. It's been a while, just candidly, that you've had those nerves. What did you learn from ShopRite that you want to take into the next couple rounds?

ANA BELAC: Yeah, I think like at ShopRite I tried really hard on Sunday. I just want to keep playing my own game and then kind of seeing where it puts me. It's been a while as you said I've been in contention, so I'm trying not to look a little leaderboards. I've actually done a really good job not looking at leaderboards this week or previous few weeks and just, you know, posting a score and seeing where it puts me.

That's kind of what I'm going to try to do this weekend as well.

Q. Perfect, good luck.

ANA BELAC: Thank you.
