MEIJER LPGA CLASSIC

June 19, 2026

Cassie Porter

Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Blythefield Country Club

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Cassie Porter after her second round at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. A great 36 holes for you; only two bogeys. What have you been doing to keep yourself out of those bogey situations?

CASSIE PORTER: Honestly, just talking a lot about the World Cup. (Laughter.) It's a big topic this week. We have a big game today. Yeah, just thinking about other things.

The golf is -- I'm lucky enough for it to be taking care of itself right now if I don't think too hard about it, just letting it happen.

Q. How do you start to balance that as we get closer and closer to Sunday, balancing trying to not think about it and also knowing what is at stake on Sunday?

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, it's a fine line. I think obviously we all have one goal in mind, and, I mean, you're not holding the trophy, you know what I mean, on a Saturday.

So I've got nothing to defend. I don't have a position to uphold. It's just I'm going to play the best golf I can and see where that lands me on Sunday afternoon.

Q. You haven't hit a lot of fairways but still very squarely in contention. How have you been recovering from not hitting the fairways? What's maybe the cause of that?

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, I've actually put a lot of time into figuring out how to play the rough each week. I think hitting it a little further the likelihood of going in the rough is just higher, so I think in the past weeks I've just put a lot of time and effort into figuring out how it's going to come out around the greens, and especially like by the fairways.

So, yeah, I think it's paying off. But it's a major guessing game, especially in this grass. You can get some really hot fliers and might come on the really dead the next time.

So we just guessed right this week. So far.

Q. Conditions today were much different from yesterday morning.

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah.

Q. How did the more favorable conditions today impact your strategy? Were you able to get more aggressive or anything like that?

JENNIFER KUPCHO: Yeah, just been taking it hole by hole because the wind is switching a lot out there. It's just coming from one way and then coming from the other way.

I think standing on a tee just we'll make a strategy then, because some of the holes are playing really different, but a lot of playing quite similar; just a different strength of wind.

So, yeah, just taking it hole by hole. I mean, it's hard to do anything else than that out here. It's just swirly.

Q. Is that unique about this course?

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, I think just the layout of the land, because there is big dips so the wind has a chance to swirl. There is also a lot of tee shots where you can't feel the wind but it gets up there and then it moves because there is a lot of tee shots by the trees. So just being aware of that.

I think there is a lot of information on courses like this that you need to take in because it is so slopey out there.

Q. Going to get out of here at watch World Cup. How are you feeling about that match?

CASSIE PORTER: I mean, I have a good feeling about Australia. I have a lot of wagers with caddies out here because they're all from the United States, so I think tomorrow morning will be interesting. I'll either be running into the clubhouse with my tail between my legs or cheering. Very loud.

Q. Talk about your mindset going into the weekend. What are you really going to have to focus on and how do you keep yourself from stressing like that?

CASSIE PORTER: Looking at the big picture. That's kind of my thing, just being able to stay grounded. As long as I do all I can and what's in my control, that's all I can really do. I can't really control how other people play or the conditions.

So, yeah, just taking each moment, each shot as it comes. As I said, see how that places us on Sunday afternoon.
