Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Carolina after her second round here at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Very kind of quiet scorecard for you today, but pretty solid round. Can you just take us through it? Some back-to-back birdies on the closing holes.
CAROLINA MELGRATI: Yeah, well, as I was thinking before, it was kind of a slow start today, but, I mean, I don't mind it when it's like par, par, par, you know. It's kind of nice to like have a little bit of a chill start.
And that kind of helped me getting in the mindset of like switching gear if that makes sense. And, I mean, it was nice that I managed to do that.
But definitely the last couple holes were very, very good. I kind of wanted to make birdie in both of them so I was like, I did everything possible to do it.
Q. Yeah. You haven't dropped a shot on any of the par-5s. How crucial is that to be successful on this course?
CAROLINA MELGRATI: I mean it's like five of those par-5s so it's like what could be considered a pretty easy course based on that.
So it's kind of like key to maintain a good scorecard on those par-5s. It's usually like the easiest holes to get birdies on, so that's why it should be good to take advantage of those.
Q. Yeah.
CAROLINA MELGRATI: I was trying to do that, so...
Q. About halfway through your rookie season now, how have you kind of been adjusting to life on the Tour?
CAROLINA MELGRATI: It's kind of like -- I mean, I love it, absolutely. I love traveling. I mean, when you have friends on Tour that's when it gets better.
So I can say that I have a few, especially from like, yeah, what is it called, college golf or from like years ago, you know, and it's nice to share moments with them, too, which is why it's -- everything is kind of like more chill and like fun at the same time. So it's nice.
Q. Yeah. You missed the first four cuts to start your season. Promise this will get spun into a positive. Now making your fifth consecutive cut. Is it nice to feel yourself get into a groove, into a rhythm, and see some consistent golf?
CAROLINA MELGRATI: Yeah, I think I got into the first couple tournaments with the mindset that I needed to do who knows what to make the cut and I was getting in my way basically.
But I'm thankful I understood it quite early in the season, and -- well, definitely the first cut that I made in Mexico, that was like clutch as people would say today.
You know, so that kind of like gave me, I don't know, just like good vibes to go through the season.
Q. Italy is probably not one of the bigger countries represented on the Tour, but very close I'm assuming. How honored are you to be one of the very few players out here representing Italy?
CAROLINA MELGRATI: It's very nice. I mean, I guess we can be considered quite a patriotic country, so we good around with our flag, let's go Italy. It was so fun for example last week to play with Benny as well so we could bring the Italian flag high.
So it's like, I mean, yes, we're just a few but we're loud, you know. So that's kind of nice.
Q. Last one: What do you take from the last couple rounds heading into a weekend, hopefully another great finish for you?
CAROLINA MELGRATI: I don't know, just rhythm really. I kind of like the greens. Like the course in general is mint. Just want to enjoy every second on the course and try to do my best to keep it together. You know, have a decent finish for Europe as well.
