Q. All right, here with Cassie Porter after her first round at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Cassie, got off to another strong start. Had you in here last year after the first round; back in. Just talk about this golf course and in these opening rounds how you feel.

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, I think this course is quite a beast in the wind. If you stay patient good shots are rewarded. I think I said this last year. It reminds me a lot of the course I won on Epson Tour at Battle Creek. I mean, so we're not far from there. I just love the grass out here.

Yeah, it's been good. Just hopefully I can keep it going. But today was nice, yeah.

Q. What is it about Michigan where you think you get some of your best golf?

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, to be honest I just love it here. I mean, I had an awesome pro-am group yesterday and I have some great host families, so I've spent a lot time here even in off weeks, which is awesome. Big fan of the lake life too, and the river life. So yeah, I just love it here.

Q. And made a joke earlier about how you said it's the first cut made last year when you came in here, but this year got off to a great start; I believe nine cuts made in ten starts.

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah.

Q. Can you just kind of talk about maybe more of the comfortability you feel on the LPGA now?

CASSIE PORTER: Definitely. I think second year is also very different to first year. I mean, your first year everything is new every single week every day. This year I have a little bit more of a family out here; I have friends. I mean, I know all of you guys, which is really nice.

I think that just makes a really big difference.

But, you know, like I'm coming back to a course that I've played before. Hasn't been many courses we played before this year. There is a lot of new, so I feel like it's kind of my second year being rookie at some point.

Yeah, it's just a bit of familiarity.

Q. What did you learn from playing here and playing well last year that can help you here this week?

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, I think you definitely learn out here there are places you just can't miss it. So just being aware of that when you're playing the course. Also it's a course that you can be a little bit more aggressive in places, so just taking advantage of the opportunities is pretty important, yeah.

Q. Can you take us through the putt on 18? How far was that first putt?

CASSIE PORTER: Oh, my gosh. Man, honestly feels illegal using putter here. Like I need something else.

Yeah, that was -- you know, I probably shouldn't say this, but to some extent a bit of a hit-and-hope. Yeah, the putting green is not even that long, so, yeah.

Q. Coming off your third top 10 of the season. How would you you assess your overall game at this point of the year?

CASSIE PORTER: Yeah, I think I'm just growing a lot and riding the wave. This game throws a lot of things at you all the time, and just being able to handle that a little bit better, I think that's what I've done better in year.

But, I mean, I just have a great team around me right now and I'm really excited and I'm just loving the grind.

Q. What are some of those challenges that have been thrown at that you learned to better deal with?

CASSIE PORTER: When things aren't going well, when you're in that situation more I think you just learn how to manage it better and not let it slip as much.

At the end of the day we are so fortunate to be out here playing golf for a living, so a bogey is really not that big of a deal in the big scheme of things.

I think just keeping your mind on that, looking up at the trees, not just having tunnel vision. I think that's really important.

But gosh, I'm still learning. I'm no where near a veteran at this. Yeah, I'm enjoying all the lessons it throws at my all the time.
