Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Jessica after her opening 67 at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Can you talk a little bit about the day? Only one bogey on the card. Looked like a lot of things were going well out there.

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Yeah, hit a lot of greens today and that kind of really helped. Made a little equipment change this week and kind of saw a lot of good things.

Q. What was the equipment change?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Just a new set of irons. Kind of really helped. I was a little skeptical going in, but, yeah, after day like today I was like oooh, this might pretty good.

Q. What did you switch to?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Just a set of Titleist. They have a little more spin, seem to hold a little better out there, and higher ball flight.

Q. When you're out there gaming a new set of irons with this type of wind, how does that go into the process and the thought process out there?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Yeah, I think for me, I'm really always scared to change, and so definitely wasn't me. Kind of my husband was like, you need to just put these in play. I kind of trusted him and, yeah, it was very good.

Q. Give you a little bit more confidence with change going forward?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Maybe.

Q. Why did your husband feel like you needed to make this change now?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: He's always said these irons you have are too thick. Went with a little thinner sole and seem to get through the turf a little better.

Q. How long does it usually take you to adjust to like an equipment change like that?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: For me it's a while. That's why I was just like, I just don't know if this is the time. Better this week than next week was our thought. I think it was a great idea.

Q. So based on what you saw today, do you feel like you're adjusting a little quicker than you normally would?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Yeah, definitely. I think they just hopefully fit well. Like I think that's what a change should be, is it should be something that's kind of you go out and play the shot and you're like ooh, this is it.

Q. You've been splitting your time this season also playing on the Epson Tour. What's the biggest challenge in kind of going back and forth?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Out here it's just firm and fast. I think that's kind of what I've seen. So that's why the equipment change, it's fine out there. The greens are a little softer. Then when you come out to LPGA it's like you need to be able to stop the ball quicker to access some pin locations. That's kind of been key.

Q. I saw the long birdie that you rolled in there at eight. How far do you think that was?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: On eight?

Q. Second-to-last hole today.

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: It was like ten feet.

Q. Ten feet?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Yeah.

Q. And how would you describe what the conditions were like out there this afternoon?

JESSICA PORVASKNIK: Was definitely pretty windy, but kind of the wind direction I really liked out there. West-northwest kind of suited my game well.
