Quick Quotes
Q. All right, here with Yan Liu after her first round at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give. Very, very solid round from you today. Kind of take us through the stretch of holes four through eight, the birdies and one bogey in there.
YAN LIU: Oh, yeah, today is pretty solid golf and I'm pretty enjoyed the weather; very cold and very windy in the morning. I think today was -- my putting was pretty good. That three birdie in a row is -- I putting almost four yard probably, yeah.
Q. What was the reason behind that? Hitting it sharp on your approach? What was the reason for that?
YAN LIU: Well, I think I pretty confidence with distance because the very windy. So I think today the wind help a lot. Ever par-5 I feel is helping wind so that help a lot.
Q. Yeah. This is your third start at this event. What keeps you coming back to the Meijer LPGA in this area?
YAN LIU: Well, very happy I put myself on this position. I think nothing to lose so I just do my best.
Q. What would you say is the highlight of the round today?
YAN LIU: I would say the 15 hole and when I putt I feel short. Then the wind help me push, so wind help me to like had birdies. (Smiling.)
Q. You mentioned the cold temperatures and the weather, enjoying that today. Do you like the challenge with the cold weather and the wind?
YAN LIU: Actually I prefer hot, but as a golfer I think we can all do whatever weather.
Q. How much did you have to adjust to compensate for the wind and temperatures today with different clubs?
YAN LIU: Well, I was -- what's the question?
Q. With the wind today and the cold temperatures, did you have to play different clubs than you normally would to compensate for that?
YAN LIU: Well, I think wind definitely, but the cold not, yeah.
Q. How would you describe your overall game coming into this week?
YAN LIU: I feel before today start my driver is kind of miss two ways, but I figure out by myself. (Smiling.)
Q. When were you able to figure that out?
YAN LIU: Just I think I do what the coach say. Just outside in more than try to fade it; try not to miss one way.
Q. What's your coach's name?
YAN LIU: Coach's name.
Q. Who is your coach?
YAN LIU: Holton Freeman.
Q. Looks like I guess nine through 13 you par and the last three out of five you were able to get birdies. What kind of worked on those last five holes for you especially when the wind started to pick up again?
YAN LIU: I just very focus my process today. Because it's very windy, a lot of thing out of my control so I just do what I can control.
Q. A lot of golfers say that the first day is always important because you get a feel for the course. What was your feel from day one? I know you're in the lead but what was the feel from day one and what did you like out there on the course?
YAN LIU: Oh, a lot of rain yesterday, couple days so the green is pretty soft. But I don't know like tomorrow because today is very windy. Maybe more dry. So tomorrow will be firmer I think.
