HSBC CHAMPIONSHIPS

June 17, 2026

Arthur Fery

London, England, UK

Queens Club

Press Conference

A. FERY/A. Mannarino

7-6, 6-4

THE MODERATOR: First of all, congrats, Arthur. Very tricky opponent on court for you today, but you managed to get it over in two sets and getting to your first ATP Tour-level quarterfinal. How does it feel?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, it feels great to be in the quarterfinal for the first time. Yeah, it was a difficult match today against a tricky opponent on grass. But, yeah, really happy with how I handled it.

THE MODERATOR: Questions.

Q. You have had some big moments this year. Australia at the start, beating Flavio Cobolli, and then here. How do you reflect on these two big moments this year and your journey so far in 2026, which is going in the right direction?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, I mean, very different here than Australia. Yeah, I wouldn't really associate them together, but yeah, you know, a season is full of ups and downs.

Yeah, I was able to play really well in Australia, and first full clay season in a long time, which was good for experience and learning. Yeah, now playing on grass, which obviously suits my game more.

Yeah, I'm having a good result here at Queen's, and hopefully, yeah, I can keep having more good results this year.

Q. You had that nosebleed before game 3, second set. How difficult was that to deal with? Has it happened before on a tennis court?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, it happens to me quite often. Yeah, honestly not that difficult because I'm used to it. It's just, you know, a break, like, we're used to adapting in tennis and a lot of variables all the time. Yeah, couldn't do much about it, anyway.

Q. Is that, like, a nervous or stress-related thing, if it's happened before?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, it could be. Yeah, could be. Again, I don't really know why it happens. Yeah, maybe nerves or sometimes tiredness or the heat. I don't know. But, yeah, it happens here and there. Yeah.

Q. Am I right in thinking the physio gave you some medication as well as the tissue to put up your nose? Do you know whether that medication is just something to stop the bleeding?

ARTHUR FERY: He gave me some anticoagulant thing, yeah, kind of a tissue, and then just a bit of Vaseline in the nose, and that stops the bleeding.

Q. Looks like you're going to be playing Cerundolo. If that does end up being the match, what do you think of his style and how it matches with you?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, he plays great. Obviously a well-established player. I think he won a title on grass last year. Yeah, good player on grass, as well.

Yeah, I'll try and recover well and do my homework tomorrow. Yeah, try and focus on myself and play well on Friday.

Q. You seem to really rise to the occasion in front of the home fans and thrive on the energy. How was your experience playing college tennis -- I know the energy's really high there -- at Stanford? What have you brought from that onto the ATP Tour?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, college tennis is very different. It's fast-paced with the no ad. Yeah, just a lot of shouting and high energy.

So, yeah, in a way, it definitely teaches you to play in high-stress moments. Yeah, obviously very different.

Today I was on a big court, and the crowd was behind me, but yeah, I thought it was a really nice atmosphere. Felt comfortable out on court. Yeah, it definitely helps me to play under pressure, yeah, with all those years in college.

Q. Well done. I know your mind is still on this week, but looking ahead to Wimbledon, how much confidence does it give you to tick off milestones like this, beat top players like this?

ARTHUR FERY: Yeah, it's great. I played four matches on grass in Birmingham and here now a minimum of three. Yeah, a lot of matches under the belt on grass against quality opponents. That's the most important, leading into Wimbledon. Yeah, I have confidence in my game.
