Quick Quotes
Q. Segundo, terrific 66. That's a nice way to march into the match play stages of the amateur championship. Must be pretty happy with that.
SEGUNDO PINTO: Yeah, for sure. It's my third time playing here in the British Am. It's good to finally make the cut. I was kind of excited to have the opportunity to get into match play. So, shooting 66, getting myself in there, it's a good feeling.
Q. It was a little bit calmer today weather wise. Could you sense there was an opportunity today?
SEGUNDO PINTO: Yeah, 100 percent. It was definitely calmer. I took it shot by shot, small steps. Just play a slow round, get into it, not get ahead of myself. That's kind of like the way I did it.
Q. Into that round, seven into it probably. Was there anyone that really stood out?
SEGUNDO PINTO: The one on 19 was pretty nice. I was actually pushing for a 64 at one point. Then 15 got me a little bit, but still good.
Q. Hoylake Royal Liverpool will always be associated with a very special Argentinean golfer. Do you know that?
SEGUNDO PINTO: Roberto De Vicenzo.
Q. I know it's years ago, 1967, but still a great inspiring figure for Argentinean golfers.
SEGUNDO PINTO: Yeah, for sure, for sure. Argentina has three majors. Roberto is our only Open champion, as of right now. Yeah, years ago an inspiration back when he was playing, and he still is.
Q. You had a good result, was it last week? Links Trophy, wasn't it, at St Andrews. It's just a nice links tune up and continuing that momentum?
SEGUNDO PINTO: Links course, locals have the advantage. So just making cuts, getting top finishes, it always feels like double. It's good.
Q. Yeah. You said you've missed the qualifying cut on the occasions you've played here before. You've continued to (indiscernible) for the links golf. Is this the kind of culmination of experience now that you're getting into grips with it?
SEGUNDO PINTO: Yeah, there's definitely a learning curve of playing links golf. I'm just glad I can come again and challenge myself to improve on what playing links golf actually means, which is not always hitting the ball at the pin. It means actually playing a lot of different shots, a lot of different lies, just being smart around it.
Q. Your season so far, obviously a good result last week, but just in general, highlights pretty good?
SEGUNDO PINTO: Yeah, a really good season so far. A couple of top 10s in Korn Ferry. Then made my first playoff in a professional tournament in Argentina. It's been a good season, and I'm hoping to keep this momentum in golf going.
Q. Playing among professionals as an amateur is always a level of insight, isn't it? Is that the next step into the professional rounds?
SEGUNDO PINTO: Yes, for sure. That will be one of my next steps moving on to turn professional once I get status, which I'm hoping for this year or maybe start of next year.
Q. What would be your biggest kind of achievement thus far in your career?
SEGUNDO PINTO: I've won a few championships in college. I came in fourth in a Korn Ferry Tour event two months ago, which shows that I have a record for being the only am to get top 10 and then top 5 back to back weeks. A couple of good things here and there.
Q. You're trending in a nice direction. So, keep it going.
