Quick Quotes
Q. Good man, job done. How would you assess the last couple of days?
STUART GREHAN: Yeah, pretty good. Played very, very solid. Just had a bit of a hiccup between 10, 11 today, but other than that, yeah, very pleased.
Q. Just got through that hiccup. What was it?
STUART GREHAN: I had a good front nine. I was out in 4-under, and then I hit it into a bunker on 10. Chopped it out, and I hit 117 yards. I hit it long left on 10, and it was just completely dead. Just hit it to 10 feet and two-putted. That was a 6.
Then three-putted 11 as well, for good measure. I played really well coming in, and I probably missed a couple of chances, being honest, but I'm very happy.
Q. You can afford these little mishaps as long as you get through, I suppose.
STUART GREHAN: Exactly, yeah. Whether you are first or 64th, as long as you're through to tomorrow, it's a whole different ball game now. It nearly feels like another tournament starting.
So, yeah, we'll see how we go. We're there anyway, so I'm pretty pleased.
Q. You've been in a nice patch, would it be fair to say, the last kind of month or so? Various wins and good results.
STUART GREHAN: Yeah, I played nice. I've kind of played well for a while now. Again, a win at home. St Andrews Links, not too sure what happened there, missing the cut, but that happens.
Yeah, I'm very pleased with how I'm playing and very comfortable with what I'm doing.
Q. Your record in The Amateur Championship in the years, you've played in a few.
STUART GREHAN: I've played in a few. I've never done amazing. It would be nice to turn it around this week.
Q. Is Royal Liverpool a course you're familiar with? Any decent results?
STUART GREHAN: Never had a great result, but I've been here and played it. I quite enjoy it. It's kind of a ball striker's course. A bit more wind over the next few days, and see what happens.
Q. What's been your approach the last two days? Have you been plotting your items off the tee or going a bit more --
STUART GREHAN: A bit more aggressive. A bit more aggressive. I'm very comfortable off the tee this week, driving it great. So I've been, yeah, very, very comfortable hitting drivers, so I've been kind of doing that and taking advantage there.
Q. The match-play format probably suits a competitor like you?
STUART GREHAN: Yeah, I've done well in match-play tournaments in the past, so I'm excited for the next few days. My family is over and everything, so nice to have some support.
Q. Being a man in your early 30s, you're probably kind of a veteran of amateur golf these days with the changing face of the game.
STUART GREHAN: Yeah, I definitely feel old compared to the most, but I just try and use that to my advantage as experience. Yeah, look, hopefully I keep putting the head down the next couple of days and see how we go.
