THE MODERATOR: Please join me in welcoming the winners of the 44th Curtis Cup match, the USA team.
Meghan, I'm going to start with you. You've been probably looking forward to this moment for almost two years now. Can you put it into words?
MEGHAN STASI: Cannot describe it. Just so proud of the girls, their fight all week. It's just been so much fun to watch the last couple years and just so proud of them. What a day.
THE MODERATOR: Jasmine, quite a battle from you today. Talk a little bit about that fight you put out out there.
JASMINE KOO: Like I said, I was just trying to really feel what Farah taught me the last two matches. Just like keep your head up, never show them any weakness with your body, and it really helped me today.
THE MODERATOR: Farah, what was it like for you out there today? Did you know a lot about what was going on on the other parts of the course?
FARAH O'KEEFE: There was a lot of ups and downs in my match. I hit a lot of interesting shots on the front nine, we'll leave it at that.
I made the turn, and I kind of was like this is fine. I've been 2-down going into the back nine all week. There's no problem here. That's fine.
I just kind of looked at myself and told myself, because Coach Laura at Texas tells us all the time to be your best friend. Kind of talk to yourself the way that you would talk to a teammate. We've had really good practice of that all week with Jasmine and Avery of course just kind of exuding positivity. When I made the turn and I came up the elevator, I was like, you know what, I can be really nice to myself right now. I don't have to be mean.
Then I'm trying to peek at leaderboards, but there really weren't a lot out there. The TVs were kind of covered up by fans, which was a good thing. I knew that it was close, but I didn't really know exactly where it stood. I figured, if I flipped my match, it would probably help out a little bit.
Then Captain told me coming down the tunnel at 17 that it was basically over. That made me -- I was whooping and hollering all the way down the fairway. I was like all I have to do is tie this hole and I could be done. Yeah, it was pretty cool.
THE MODERATOR: Jasmine, you've been on two teams now. When you look at this specific team and this week, what memories will come to you years from now?
JASMINE KOO: I think just the camaraderie we shared this year. I'm not too sure. I don't have many memories of Curtis Cup two years ago, but I know that this year's Curtis Cup team, I'm going to remember as it being a family, like how much fun we had and how many jokes and how many games of 20 Questions we played.
Q. Farah, I'll start with you. You mentioned how Coach kind of -- Captain kind of came and told you in the tunnel that you guys had clinched it. What did you think when you're walking down the fairway and you saw all your teammates there wrapping flags and kind of welcoming you down that big downhill fairway?
FARAH O'KEEFE: I don't really know if there's anything I've ever wanted for seven other people more in my life. This was -- to get this done, for them to be able to do what they did today is the coolest thing that's ever happened, I think in all of our careers because we don't just play for ourselves, we play for our team this week.
The fact that I was able to flip my match for them kind of meant everything to me. I knew that, if I just didn't make any mistakes coming down the last hole 17 that it was over. So when I saw them, honestly I was like super excited obviously, but I also got pretty emotional because I was like this is one of the greatest team accomplishments that you can have in amateur golf and we were able to do that today.
Q. Jasmine, you alluded to it in your TV interview right off the bat. You praised Farah's resiliency and just her hyping it up. Is it hard to believe she won 5 out of 6 holes and you were able to flip your match like you did?
JASMINE KOO: No, I always think to myself -- even in NCAAs I was 4-down in a couple of matches, and I always thought to myself, yeah, I'm going to make it happen, but it's never happened until today. After the round, I looked at my caddie with my hand on my head, and I was like I cannot believe I just did that. That just happened, yeah.
Q. Farah, you alluded to on TV that this was the highlight of your career. Given what you've done in just the last couple months alone, making the cut in a couple of majors, winning the NCAA individual title, what does that say about this Curtis Cup experience for you?
FARAH O'KEEFE: I do think that golf is such an interesting sport because we play individually 99 percent of the time, but when you have the opportunity to play in a team format, I don't know why, I can't really put my finger on it, but it just means so much more.
So to be able to play with these girls -- I don't think there's any other team out there that would have been better in terms of the camaraderie we have and how comfortable we were with each other. I think we probably played like 30 games of 20 Questions this week. We played a game where we tried to describe movies the worst that we possibly could. I mean, every time we got in the van Anna was like can we have a game?
It was never really a week where we -- there was never a time that was dull. The entire week was fun and exciting, and I think that we're all going to have pretty good abs after this week because we were laughing so hard. So I do think that that's kind of the biggest thing.
When you play individually, you're kind of by yourself, but in a team format where you actually get to play with a partner, you're never by yourself, and you get to play with somebody one-on-one, sure, but you also get to play as a team and also get to put up the points at the end of the day. Eight girls, not just one person.
Q. Jasmine, are you guys already on a group text? If you're not, what do you feel like the group text will be with these girls for the years to come?
JASMINE KOO: There's a Game Pigeon app that's 20 Questions. I think there's going to be a lot of that honestly.
FARAH O'KEEFE: Right answer.
Q. Meghan, what was a moment in planning for this, whether it be in the winter, that you found out paid off at some point over these three days? Was there ever a point where you're like, I don't know, maybe we should do this, but it paid off this weekend? Was there a moment like that?
MEGHAN STASI: I think it's a lot of preparation for the last couple years. It did help being captain at Sunningdale. It was a really unbelievable experience. It was a great team. We fought hard there. I did have more things to rely on for that first time. So it was a little easier this time around.
The girls are just such a fun group of girls. It was never a dull moment ever. We just had more fun and just tried to relax as much as we could as well.
Q. Jasmine, Farah said she was trying to look at scoreboards. Did you know that they put points up early, and were you looking for scores as well?
JASMINE KOO: Yeah, I was looking at scores. I'm a scoreboard watcher. When my match went to 1-down, I was like looking at the scoreboard on 15 with my rangefinder, and I was like, okay, where are we at? I was like, if I could turn this match around, I think that's like when we were four wins on each side, and I was like, if I can turn my match around, that would be huge.
Q. Farah is the fourth player in Curtis Cup history to go 5-0 over a week. It seems like there's been a lot of team camaraderie this week, but a lot of it is centered around Farah. As a captain, what has she meant to this team, and what has she been able to bring?
MEGHAN STASI: She's one heck of a leader, I think we all know that. Her passion the last couple of years playing at Texas, and she's just been unbelievable playing for this team. She set a goal. She said, I'm going 5-0. So she stuck with it. She's not going to let anyone beat her.
THE MODERATOR: Ladies, congratulations on a great week.
