RBC CANADIAN OPEN

June 14, 2026

Matt Fitzpatrick

Caledon, Ontario, Canada

TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course)

Quick Quotes

Q. Eagle on 18 to finish. That's a great way to end the day. What did you see on that hole?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, it was nice. It was a pretty perfect number in the end, to be fair. It was like a perfect 4-iron. Settled nicely. I think that's the first time I hit the fairway all week so it was nice to take advantage of it.

Q. It looks like Cauley is sort of running away with it, but how do you feel about your performance as a whole this week, and obviously finishing second it looks like, that's pretty great.

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, it's a good week. Yeah, it's a good week. I would have taken it at the start of the week. I felt like there was a lot of good stuff in there, just needed to sort of have it come out. I was just saying that my putting was a little bit of a struggle last week and I feel like I got a bit of a better process for what I'm look working on this week, and that showed today, I putted really solid. On a golf course like this where there's a lot of opportunities you got to take advantage that have.

Q. What typically about the process did you change when it comes to your putting?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Just a little bit of a routine change. Just having a -- normally I look at the hole while doing the practice strokes and then have a look again when I'm stood over it, just eliminating the look. Just taking a little bit too long, and just allowing myself just to have a little bit more flow with the stroke and everything. From there I kind of should be a little bit better for the most part. So that's been the biggest change.

Q. You've been to Shinnecock a couple times, what's going to be the most important part of your game going forward?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Probably around the green. Second-shot golf course. The fairways are a little bit wider this time. Obviously U.S. Open tests all aspects of your game, I feel like. But Shinnecock in particular with how severe the greens are you got to do a good job of managing that.

Q. Can you just describe the conditions that you played through today?

MATT FITZPATRICK: Yeah, very wet. Very, very, very wet. I think it kind of changed the golf course a little bit. It was getting a little firm yesterday, and maybe not firm, but there was a lot of big bounce. Today it's obviously about controlling your spin with that rain. So I felt like we did a good job of that for the most part and, yeah, it's obviously nice to finish the week with that.
